Loading Spinner "Crash"/App Restart Issue with Add Media Control

I've been working on various revisions of a powerapp to be used for photo documentation from outside of the office and with every single version, I have routinely run into an issue where powerapps shows a loading screen, forgets all variable values and goes back to the starting screen.  The issue occurs when:

  • Using the add media control, specifically (for an iphone) when taking a photo and pressing the "Use Photo" option, which should take the user back to the previous PowerApps screen.  This happens randomly, but it seems to happen more after 10-15 photos are taken.
  • Pressing a button that saves the current image from the add media control into a collection, along with photo meta data stored in global variables.
  • Interacting with the collection via a gallery - for example, pressing a button to Remove(collection,ThisItem)

Obviously, I'm leaving out a lot of detail as to how the app is built and what exactly is happening.  Just wanted to see if anyone had run into this type of issue before.  Happy to provide more details -  I have a screen recording or two of the issue and can upload it.

Re: Loading Spinner "Crash"/App Restart Issue with Add Media Control

Hi @goobernoodles,

Could you please share a bit more about your issue?

Do you mean that the issue occurs only within your Mobile App? Does it occur within your browser?

Which version is your PowerApps Mobile App in your iOS device?

Currently, I could not reproduce your issue on my side. Please check if the version of PowerApps Mobile App in your iOS device is the latest version, if not, please upgrade it into the latest version, then check if the issue is solved.

Also please consider take a try to turn off/disable the "Improved app rendering (final validation)" option within Advanced settings of App settings of your app, re-publish your app, check if the issue still exists.

If the issue still exists, please consider take a try to re-create a new app on your side, check if the issue has been fixed.

Best regards,
