Message on first screen

I am looking for a possibility to post a daily message on the first screen of my app. The message should be visible for all users.

How can this be done?

Hello Allan,

the error was not to save the message in a SharePoint-file but only in a variable or in a collection.

Now the message can be seen by all users.

Thanks for the hint on the datum selection.

Best regards,

HP

Hello,

I suppose you want a function that allows you to create a specific message for a specific date.

In this scenario, depending on your data source, you can create a new source (list for sharepoint, column for excel, OOB entity or custom for CDS ...) that will store a date field and a message (you can also store a start date and an end date).

When the application loads, you can filter this specific data source to retrieve all messages according to the current date.

Thank you Allan,

the problem I encounter is that the message is only visible for the one who wrote it.

Hello,

What is your data source? Can you describe your data model and the function used to retrieve this message? This may be due to a security role which implies that the user can only see his records.

I tested with a collection and with a global variable.

Data source for the app is sharepoint.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer, I am not a SharePoint specialist, so I don't really know the security layer used.

But here's what you can do, based on a Person field in SharePoint (I don't know if there is a field like CreatedBy automatically filled in by the user who created the record); filter the list using the email of the current user (using User().Email) and the email of the Person field.

The person or group type column in SharePoint is a complex type field which might not be delegable by design

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/sharepointonline/

(check delegation for complex types in link above)
