Microsoft Flows Stored Procedure to submit form

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/return-an-array-from-flow-to-powerapps-response-method/

Hi my question is about using store procedures to submit a form

Do I have to introduce a variable for each of my fields in order to submit the form?

The reason I am considering using store procedures rather than Submit/Patch is because there is some error checking that SQL stored procedures could do while executing, for example checking that the ID is not already taken.

Hi Jesse,

You don't need to use forms if you are using patch already. This is a very good article about using patch instead of forms.

Hi jesenavaranjan.

I am not aware of your full requirement, but there might be easier ways to see if IDs have already been allocated, by centrally allocating them for an example. Do you want to elaborate more on the requirements to see if other options exist? If you are sure that you want to use Flow to update the values to the SQL table, you have to initialize a variable to easily specify the 'Ask in PowerApps' for passing data from PowerApps to Flow. How many fields are there? The alternative would be to pass the JSON object as a string to Flow and to then parse that string which will be very fast at runtime, but might have a few considerations.

Let me know what your requirements are to see how we can further assist.

Hiya!

So the entire form would have maybe 10-15 different fields.

I am thinking to use a Store Procedure, due to the fact that I am basing my form off a view.

But alternatively I could use Patch right to send the data to two different tables?

What would be the better method to do this?

Jese

Hi Jesse

If there aren't speed issues to the database (like on premises data gateway through a slow network connection), then I would suggest to use Patch directly from PowerApps. As you said PowerApps won't be able to patch the view, so just Patch the two tables directly from PowerApps for the update of data.

By passing strings to Flow you could speed things up significantly at runtime, but if speed is not an issue, Patch would be easier.

Let me know if you don't come right.

Great!

Now, how do I get my gallery to go to a view/new form with the view details

Would I just use 2/3 forms all within the same page?

Or I could use text fields within one form to link to each and every field

& then use patch.
