Mirrored camera image

Hi,

I'm having an issue with the camera control on some devices. For some reason the camera shows a mirrored image on some devices and a normal image on others. On my laptop everything works well however when running the app on a mobile device running android 7.0 i get a mirrored image.

What's also weird is that when using the barcode control the image looks fine on all devices. I know this issue might have been posted about before, but i thought i would repost this in case it might get some more attention.

Does anyone know of a work around? My aim is to send the image to a flow for OCR using azure. I've managed everything so far, but the mirrored image has really thrown me.

Would love some creative solutions if anyone has them.

Asaf

Hi @asafweis ,

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side (iOS device), and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

I run my app on my iOS device, the version of iOS is 12.2. The version of PowerApps Mobile App is 3.19034.13. The user @sk881209 has faced same issue with you, please check the response within the following thread:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Discussion/Barcode-Camera-issue/td-p/87619

Please check if the version of your PowerApps Mobile App is the latest version, if not, please upgrade it to the latest version firstly, then run your app again, check if the issue is solved.

Also please make sure the version of your Android device is the latest version. Please take a try to uninstall PowerApps Mobile App from your android device, then re-install it, chck if the issue still exists.

As an alternative soltuion, you could consider capture the pictures within your app using "Add Picture" control instead of Camera control.

Thanks for the assistance.

I've checked that all my versions are up to date and they are. Also, tried uninstalling PowerApps. nothing seems to help.

I too have an apple device which works fine. My laptop works although my desktop PC with an external USB camera is flipped.  What's also weird is that the barcode control works fine on the android device. The image shows normal. Only when i use the camer control it comes out flipped.

Very frustrating.

Hi,

I'm using a Surface Book laptop and have encountered a similar "mirror image" scenario... I'm not using  the word "issue", mainly because this is probably the way the front screen camera is set to behave. So to make a long story short, I built a PowerApps business card scanner demo calling an Azure Cognitive Computer Vision - OCR to Text service through Flow - pretty similar to the one shown by Daniel Christian in his 2nd video.

Basically, a Camera parameter set to 0 refers to my front sreen camera, while Camera parameter set to 1 refers to the back screen one. Both work well with a subtle minor but crucial difference... While the back screen camera displays an image on screen exactly as if I want, the front end camera renders a mirror image. I am not using the front end camera for "morning shaving"... so mirror rendered image is obviously not what I want and is probably the main reason why no scanned OCR info were rendered the first time. I then used the back screen camera with Camera parameter set to1 and all of a sudden everything showed up as expected... Han han... so that's it. There are maybe simple ways to cope with mirror image in "Settings", though I haven't found concise information. I also avoid installing patches and end up with "Oh noooo... black screen... no more image what have I done!"

Well you know what I mean.... So I'm not looking for answers such as  "hey I used a Dell, Mac, iOS  or whatever... and haven't encountered any issue" If it works fine on your side well that's fine with me... Still we can agree than it doesn't provide answer to basic core of the question...  😉

Thank you
