Missing "Default" value on datacard

I am trying to add a new card to a form, so I go to Edit Fields, but then the "Add field" is greyed out co I cannot add the card that way. So instead click the 3 dots to the right of "Add Field" and clicked on "Add a Custom  Card".  This creates a card but then the "Default" property is not there, which I need.

How do I get the "Add field" to be not greyed out? Or is there something else I am missing?

You must have been using Temporary data source like Collections for your Edit form.

Use Non temporary Data source like SharePoint and you will be able to add fields.

I had the same issue and I found out a work around.

I could not add fields like usually because my data source was a formula.

I am using 4 different data source for the same form viewer.

If you temporally place only one data source on the form viewer "data source", you will be able to see the add fields.

I believe that this happens because the when you use multiple sources, it is not possible to create a list of fields to add.
