Is it possible to update a field like Date/Time on a model driven app..? I am referring to an Entry time which can be captured on saving the form.. Exit time also need to be captured similar to Entry time but with the time updated. Your thoughts would be of help.
There is a created by and a modified by. Created by is the date time the record was first saved, modified by is the most recent time a record was saved
so if people will be submitting the form after the record is created, then created on wont work. If people will make additional changes after hitting submit, modified on wont work.
create a new field called submitted date. Then when a user hits the submitted button populate the submitted date field with current date time.
canvas app or flow could do that. Or in model driven app have a process like workflow or flow that runs and updates the submitted on field when the record status changes to submitted
thank you for your response.. Can you show me a demo with modified on and submitted date? Also business process? I am quite new to this..
Every entity has a field called created On that is automatically populated when a record is created. It also has a field called modified that is updated whenever a record is updated
so if you want to know when the record was created or was last updated these fields will work.
If you need to have a field that captures a specific event date like when the status changes on a record, create a new field choose date for the type.
so once you have the submitted on date field, then you need to decide what is going to make the field get populated. for example, one option might be to add the status reason field to the form and add a value to the option set called "submitted." then have a process that populates that field with the date.
that could be a Microsoft Power Automate Flow, a real time workflow, etc. I can't give you all the steps here, but go to learn.microsoft.com and you can learn how to use Power Automate to populate the field with the current date.
You can use a calculated field formula like diffindays and diffinhours to calculate the difference between two date fields, not two text fields. Your calculated field needs to be a whole number field https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/crmpowerobjects/posts/how-to-calculate-number-of-days-between-t...
