Modern Progress Bar with PowerApps

Hi Guys,

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. can't even get Chat GPT to help me with this. I have apps attached to a sharepoint list with 5 columns. I have a collection that is created with the 6 stages relating to this application. So I have a gallery linked to the sharepoint list and a gallery inside that with 6 checkboxes named after the stages. I also have a progress bar at the top of the page to show me what stage each client is at. My trouble is that :-

  • If I click on the selected client box, all the clients have the same box ticked.
  • The progress bar at the top of the app moves when any of the boxes are clicked.

So what I want to do is to have the progress bar linked to whichever client is selected & obviously for the check box that is ticked only relates to the client that is selected.

Hope someone get lead me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

So why are you patching the gallery? You should just have the patches happening oncheck / uncheck, and your "Checked" should be set to ThisItem.column1-6

What is your items in your gallery? Should be the list as well. So when you patch it's just patching and it should auto refresh and keep it up to date in real time. Unless there is a reason to delay patching, then you can use a collection from the list, then just patch the collection back to the list on button click.

You’re gonna need to post your onchecked property code for us to help. You’ll have to patch the collection utilizing thisitem and or the parent to get that working right but we’ll need to see what you got to see what might be wrong to cause them all to check. Likely you are patching the collection to all the checkbox value by name instead of that value + the ID if the entry.

anyway. Share some code and I’m sure someone can nail it down. I’m going to sleep ;).

Thanks for the reply. This is the onchecked code for the checked box -

Patch(colStages,ThisItem,{Completed:true})- The collection I have set up is -
{Value:"SnapShot Returned",Completed:true},
{Value:"Information Updated",Completed:true},
{Value: "Appointment Made", Completed:true},
{Value: "Documents Completed",Completed:true},
{Value: "Review Completed", Completed: true},
{Value: "Implementation Completed", Completed: true}
The sharepoint list is called TownsvilleReviews2024 and the gallery is galClients.
The gallery for the checkboxes is galCheckBox. The progress bar that I have set up is Progress1 and the value is -
Progress1.Value=Value(Text(galCheckBox.Selected.Status, "0%")).
I hope all this helps.
Thanks again

SO where are you saving the checkboxes? Right now you only have a static list of 6 and their checkbox status, so if you change one they all change etc. Has to be a record tied to each checkbox somewhere for each item. That being either 6 columns on the TownsvilleReveiews2024 list or a related list.

Once you have that setup, then you can link your checkboxes to those instead, cause right now the collection isn't doing much but providing options that are shared across. If they need to just be in the collection then you need to do a ForAll() against the list items you have in your gallery, and then Collect() the 6 options for each option including that list item's ID in addition to it. etc.

Thanks for the quick reply. The sharepoint list has a choice column named Status with the six options. Do I need to have 6 separate columns in that list??

Depends. Is the goal to just check the "next" checkbox? and it's set to that last one? or do you need to save each one separately as in can they be completed in different order?

For the progress bar to work I would need to have them saved separately I assume.

Then you'll need 6 columns with checkboxes or text, doesn't matter, but something you can store each one on. I would just use yes/no fields. Then you can directly key off those for your checkboxes to make it easier to interface in your app.

OK I have created those columns as Yes/No fields. Whats my next step??

Ditch the Gallery and just plug in a Horizontal Container, then plug in 6 checkboxes, and then each one link to their corresponding option. For "Checked" could be ThisItem.Column1 , ThisItem.Column2 etc.

You'll have to update the x,y of the container etc. But that will give you the alignment like a gallery. Update your labels. Then for OnCheck / Uncheck you can patch the "ThisItem.Column1-6 with true / false.
