Multiple galleries item and dropdown collection

Hi all,

 

I have an app which has multiple galleries. The galleries look like the one below. The dropdown values are not linked to any sharepoint values, the gallery items however are.

I need to collect the items as well as the answers given in the dropdown and save it to a sharepoint list as a new entry.

 

Is that possible? Many thanks for any help!

For the purposes of this code, I will call your Client Field ClientNo, your Gallery Gallery1 and your Dropdown (which I assume is a Choice field MyChoice - change these to your values

 This should return what you see on the screen into the collection colMyData (also call it whatever you want).

What would the code look like if there was multiple galleries and some text-input (for comment) as well as a combo-box (for person)?

 

The thing is that all the answers would have to be attributed to a person selected in the mentioned combo box.

OK @tupues Tom,

I framed the last one to return only the fields showing in the Gallery. The ShowColumns was to get the Client field (there may have been more fields in the data set) - the AddColumns was to extract the underlying value in the DropDown.

This logic will work on any gallery - the AddColumns on an additional Text Input called UserComments would be

What would the code look like though, if I was to add Gallery2 and Gallery3 to the code following the same principle and submitting them all in one go to the same collection?

Ideally I wouldn't want a new column for each gallery...

 

EDIT: With the code above I am also getting an error that the column "ClientNo" does not exist 😞

OK @tupues ,

This could get very complicated and you can merge different collections as long as they have a common key, however on the assumption that they all have the same three fields examples ClientNo, Comments and ChoiceMade, you simply collect the three as before and then

ClearCollect(
   colAllMyData, 
   ColMyData1, 
   ColMyData2, 
   ColMyData3
)

 to get a combined Collection.

Thanks, however with the formula below I am getting "The specified column "ClientNo" does not exist". Is there anything I might be missing...?

Thanks again, I worked some more on it, but I cannot get it where I want...

 

Here are some screenshots that will perhaps help:

 

This is the layout of the app. As you can see we have a tabbed format with several galleries. These galleries draw their value data from a sharepoint list. The dropdown is coded in the app directly.

This is the code I inserted as instructed. The answers from the selected drop-downs should all be written, along with the questions, to another sharepoint list named TrainingFeedback.

I am not entirely sure if the code is correct. The target list should look something like this where Instructor is the person selected in the first tab.

There would logically be a line for each answer, along with the same Instructor name for all of them.

 

I am not sure if I'm going down the right track. I'd be happy for any other ideas how to solve this.

 

Basically I need a way to track the answers given in the feedback, link them back to a person and ultimately use them with powerBI.

I am in a different time zone ( early Wednesday morning here), but I will answer your first post. ClientNo is an example name I used for your first column - you will need to change to your actual name and the AddColumns will pick this up. I am trying to show you structure examples that you can interpret into your particular situation.

For your second post along the same lines, is Answer the name of your field in the data source?

Yes, Answer is a column in my target data source. What confuses me is that the target data source isn't referenced anywhere in the formula and is different from the datasource where the items in the gallery are gathered from. 

 

My process looks like this: 

 

SPList_Questions --> Powerapp with SPList_Questions in gallery along with drop downs to answer questions --> SPList_Answers

 

The SPList_Answers has columns as shown in the screenshot above.

We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
