Navigate cannot be used on AppStart

Hi recently i tried testing deep link, and it was working fine, but now I found that the formula that I've used before on AppStart is not working as I cannot use Navigate and other functions inside the OnStart.

Set(varEmpID, Value(Param("EmpID")));Set(varStatus, Value(Param("status")));
If(varEmpID <> 0, Set(varRecord,LookUp('Onboarding Requests',ID = varEmpID));Navigate(New_request_phase_2))

Unfortunately, I cannot copy this formula to StartScreen as some functions are not supported on StartScreen.

Inside the link, I have the following parameter 

EmpID=53

As you can see previously I was using the EmpID to search in my SPO list Onboardin requests where the ID of the record to match the EmpID value, now I cannot use this anymore.

Also, I need to check when the app is started first if varEmpID is <> 0 (meaning that the user has landed in the app from a link that he received if true then I set the global variable (varRecord) to be the returned SPO record which I call using the varEmpID value received in the link

If(varEmpID <> 0, Set(varRecord,LookUp('Onboarding Requests',ID = varEmpID));Navigate(New_request_phase_2))

 Amy idea how to rewrite this now so I can again show the user the correct screen when he is coming to the app from a link?

You need to split out the logic!  One has to do with setting a bunch of variables and one has to do with going to a screen.

Your StartScreen formula should be:

If(Value(Param("EmpID"))=0, New_request_phase_2)

And your OnStart formula should be:

Set(varEmpID, Value(Param("EmpID")));
Set(varStatus, Value(Param("status")));
If(varEmpID <> 0, Set(varRecord, LookUp('Onboarding Requests',ID = varEmpID)))

Hi @RandyHayes  thanks for the response, but for some reason still nothing is happening. Even dough I have a ID in the deeplink, I'm still redirected to my main screen

Make sure you are really getting the parameter!

Place a label on the screen and set the Text property to: Value(Param("EmpID"))

Does it show the correct value and yet does not navigate?

Okay...but that is not your formula!!  Your formula says to navigate to the other screen if the parameter is 0!

You are passing a parameter, so it will not go to the other screen, it will go to your main screen.

Just realizing in your original post that your wanted to set a variable and then navigate if it was getting a passed parameter.  I mistook that for the else condition of your If.

SO...with that in mind, the StartScreen formula should be:

If(Value(Param("EmpID")) <> 0, New_request_phase_2)

I found the problem, it was in the formula for StartScreen

If(Value(Param("EmpID"))=0, New_request_phase_2)

Just has to replace instead of equal to 0 to be not equal <> ,
