Have you tried Refresh(Exceldatasource)?

Yes, it works manually. Is it possible to do a scheduled refresh?

You could use a Timer control to automatically execute the Refresh at the interval you choose.  see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe2NI2aTGvY  for a nice video on the many uses of the Timer.

Thanks so much for the video- it is quite clear. But what is still unclear- how to make timer running in the background say every 24.00 of CET?
