Newform Vs EditForm

I have what I think is a strange issue.

TLDR:

I have a form that I get two by clicking one of two buttons, one puts the target form in New mode (Mode = 1, DisplayMode = Edit) and the other puts it into edit mode (Mode = 0, DisplayMode = Edit).

Any ideas why edit mode is setting the cards (full of labels and input boxes) to hidden please?

Explained Problem:

New button with the following OnSelect Code : If an item is selected on the gallery then set New_Item_1 as a new form.

If(GalleryList.Selected.KPI_Name = "", "", NewForm(New_Item_1); Navigate(Edit_Create_1,ScreenTransition.UnCover))

Edit button with the following OnSelect Code

EditForm(New_Item_1); Navigate(Edit_Create_1,ScreenTransition.UnCover)

The reason to get this working is because I have various bits of code that says

If(New_Item_1.Mode = 1, <Do this>, <Get this value from selected Gallery item>)

Problem being, is in edit mode (Mode = 0, DisplayMode = Edit) all the cards in the form are not showing. In new mode they show just fine. There is nothing in visibility to make it do this. The example code above is only used to pre-populate input fields, but not control what is visible as I always want all fields showing.

Thanks,

Re: Newform Vs EditForm

Hi @RobThrive ,

Could you please share a bit more about your issue?

Do you mean that all data cards are hidden when your Edit form is in Edit mode?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentiuoned. Please consider modify your formula as below:

New Button OnSelect:

NewForm(New_Item_1);
Navigate(Edit_Create_1,ScreenTransition.UnCover)

Edit Button OnSelect:

EditForm(New_Item_1);
Navigate(Edit_Create_1,ScreenTransition.UnCover)

Set the Item property of the Edit form to following:

BrowseGallery1.Selected // on your side, you should type GalleryList.Selected

Note: When you want to edit an record in your Edit form, please make sure the Item property of the Edit form has been set to the specific record you want to update.

or

If(
   New_Item_1.Mode = FormMode.Edit,
   GalleryList.Selected
)

Thanks. I've managed to resolve the issue.

I ended up changing lots of the objects values to Parent.Default and set the cards default values to feed of the two data sources and this seems to have fixed things.

It's just unfortunate that PowerApps hasn't been able to tell me that the cards are hidden because it is struggling to obtain the data.
