On Premise Gateway on Data Centre server

Hi we use a data center that hosts several SQL server databases on a Virtual Private Server.  Currently we access databases using the VPS's IP address and port number with a strong username and password.  My Question is do I need an On Premise gateway installed on the VPS server to connect a PowerApp?
