OnStart, populate collection from datasource: is this possible?

Hello

Is it possible to:

1 populate a collection 'OnStart' from another datasource eg an Excel file, and then

2 to use that collection as the datasource for the app?

The app data would be patched to a new datasource (not the collection).

Thanks!

Hi @Englishweb ,

Yes, it is possible to update one data source using the data from another data source. But you must have both data sources connected to this app. And OnStart of the app, collect the data from Excel table to a collection, then use a Patch function to update the collection to the 2nd data source.

Hi Englishweb,

Yes, its possible to collect data from a data source on start of the app and then use it later.

Hello @DanishIslam

Thanks for your quick reply,

Could you possibly explain how to load data into a collection OnStart, from Excel?

Sorry if its an obvious question!

Hi,

You can follow this link on how to utilize Excel with PowerApps.

Hope it helps.

Hello  @DanishIslam

Thanks very much for your response, but my question was about the loading of a 'Collection' OnStart as the datasource, rather than using Excel directly. Perhaps I've misunderstood your reply.

Hello

So, here's the scenario:

1) I create MyCollection, which collects data OnStart from a datasource (Excel file) to run the app

2  I use the Patch function to update a 2nd data source (Another Excel file)

(Both datasources are connected to the app)

My question: Do all users need to have access to both Excel files if the App is running from MyCollection?

Thanks
