OnSubmit Validation

I have tried using a number of different if/and/or statements to validate my form but having no luck.  My form is a sharepoint list and is for expenses.

I need to to prevent my form from submitting if expenses are entered but receipts are not attached.  The theory is as per below:

If "expense_a" OR "expense_b" OR "expense_c" is >=1 AND attachment variable "isAttached=True" then submit, else show error message "if you wish to submit an expense value you must attach a receipt"

I have tried nesting this various ways but keep getting errors, any ideas?

even just on a single if/and statement I cant get it to work

e.g 

formual: if(AND(datacardvalue12 >=1, datacardvalue5.isattached=true, submitform(editform1), Showlabel.errormessage))

logic: if expense_a is greater than or equal to 1 and attachment variable isAttached is True submit form else displaylabel error message.

Really could use some help here if anyone is willing 🙂

Can you post your actual code and its location?

OnSuccess is usually for after validation. If you want to validate before submitting that probably goes in OnSelect of the Submit button e.g.:

If((expense_a >=1 || expense_b >=1 || expense_c >=1) && isAttached=True, SubmitForm(form1))

Sorry you are right, this is onSubmit, I have corrected title now.   I have updated the original post now also with some of the formula I was trying and tried to explain what my goal is, hopefully it makes sense 😞

Can you tell me more about DataCardValue12? Is this a text input? Are you getting a red squiggly line under your formula?

Yes I am getting a red squiggly line - the SharePoint list for the field is set to single line of text but powerapps has restricted the entries to numerical values only - see attachment below with screenshots, hopefully it helps a bit.

Does the user enter a number in this Field? It's odd that you would have the user enter a number and then have that control whether an attachment is required.

Anyway, the answer to your basic question is, I think, that you want to use the Value() function to convert the Text of that control to a number, something like:

If(And(Value(DataCardValue12.Text) >= 1, ...

Hey sorry for delay in response I have been away for a few days.

The purpose of the the condition is if the user entres a number it means they are requesting an expense, at the minute the user can submit an entry with an expense value without attaching a receipt.  The expense is calculated and processed at month end but there is no receipt.

I want powerapps to reject the entry if they enter an expense but do not upload a receipt, therefore forcing the user to either omit the expense from the record or remember to add the receipt.  We can allow for editing the entry right up until month end however we don't want any entries accepted that contain an expense value and no receipt.

I will test your suggestion over the next day or so and provide feedback, thanks for your input thus far.
