Pass information from a screen to another

Hello again,

New question - Is there any way to pass a value from a screen to another?

What I need to do is on first screen to select my team number form a drop down box and then navigate to a browse screen to display jobs allocated for that team.

Tables like that:

Teams: TeamID, TeamNo, TeamName

Jobs: JobID, TeamID, JobNo, JobDescription.

Thanks!

Hi

WHen you are using NewForm() and Submit(), these are ALL the Standards Practice.

In Jan 2016 ~ Apr 2016, there are Tutotial about using Context Variable.

Let me share with you to use Navigate(Screen1, Transition, {VarX: ThisItem})

VarX will be carried to next screen for the selected : "ThisItem" or selected items using TablxTeams.TeamID, etc.

This VarX becomes a global variable.

(UpdateContext will only generate LOCAL variable to the screen you resie in).

Hope it helps.

Hi LucianB,

My app is based on SharePoint list. Below is my SharePoint list.

teams and jobs.PNG

In the app, I add two screens, and connect data source to the SharePoint list.
On Screen1, I add a Dropdown box and set it Items property to the data source ‘teams and jobs’. Then add a button and set its Onselect property as Navigate(Screen2,ScreenTransition.Fade,{Number: Dropdown1.Selected.TeamNo})
On Screen2, add a gallery control, then set its Items property as Filter('teams and jobs',TeamNo=Number). As not all the columns can be shown on the gallery, I add several Text box controls in the gallery to show all the items.

Then when I select a TeamNo from the Dropdown list, click the button, I would be navigated to Screen2, and only the according information allocated for that team would be shown on the Screen2.

Hope this can also be a reference for you.
