Passing a Dropdown into a global variable

Hi
I am building my first PowerApps and want to pass the value from a dropdown into a global variable so I can call it on different screens, I am using this:
Set(variable1,dropdown1.selected.value)
However I am getting an incompatible type error, has anyone passed a dropdown into a global variable with success?
Thanks

I worked it out, it needed to be

Set(variable1,dropdown1.selectedtext.value)

Hi @GWBJones

This type of error occurs when you are trying to store values of different data types into a variable.

May be you have used the same variable name with another data type in your App.

Try with a unqiue variable name.

Also set your variable on the OnChange property of the dropdown

Set(varUnqiueName,Dropdown1.Selected.Value)

Hi Reza Dorrani

This is the only place I have used that variable name and it doesnt seem to matter if its onselect, onchange or use a seperate button to set the variable, it just seems like you cant set global variables from a dropdown, has anyone had success doing that?

Thanks Brian

I worked it out, it needed to be

Set(variable1,dropdown1.selectedtext.value)
