Patch , ForAll or what?

I am designing a new Powerapp form for my office.  I created new form, attached my MAIN sharepoint list. Shown below.  I did successfully add a gallery and attached the seperate PrintSet list I want to use.

Screen1.JPG

Below I attached my Main Sharepoint list that I use to create app above.  I would like to have the choicebox selected above, be recorded in the PrintSet column below.  I keep getting stuck trying to use Patch, ForAll and creating single checkboxes with the lookup formula.Screen2.JPG

Thank you for your help.

So I'm going back through the original formulas and I forgot to bring over the label data to my test app.  I'll have to restart and I'll post afterwards.

Thanks Randy

Randy, Thank you so much for the help!  I changed up the app a little from the original example you sent me.  Since I'm in a datacard I remove the Results label and I remove the fade if 2 are selected.  It works absolutely perfect.  I can build out my full app now!  One last question. Mid(Concat(Filter(Gallery1.AllItems, Checkbox2.Value), ", " & Checkbox2.Text),3) allows for 2 selections...How do I add more.  I'm of course going to blow this thing up trying different codes....Thank you again but I was defeated before you replied!

@AntwainPatrick

Excellent!  Glad you are making progress.

Actually the only aspect that restricts you to 2 items is the DisplayMode property of the checkbox (at least in the example I gave you).  That is the only place that checks the count of the boxes checked.  If you look at that formula you will see it checks for 2.  If you change that formula, you can allow for as many as you want.

Thank you again for your help.  I'm off and running now....until next hiccup!..lololol

Randy,

Here is a test setup of my app.  I highlighted to Print area so it's easy to see.  For some reason my Print options from the Edit Screen (Project Submittal) is not being recorded by the app, instead the default value is being recorded.

Because the original app formula relies on the other label inputs, I created a code screen that will not by viewable by my users, but allows me a clean place to save them.

Thank you again

I will be trying to create a custom datacard tonight and go thur the steps to see if that works.

This formula you posted is absolutely correct.  Although it will not work within an edit form.  So I'm creating a fully custom app with data source connected but not attached to any datacards.   Thank you for your patience and help.

Going round in circles trying to get ForAll & Patch working together, I get that you have to create a collection first and use this to 'loop' back over the SQL table etc. However, I can only manage to update the first record in the database table.

Here's as far as I've managed to get.

ForAll(
MyTime,
Patch(
'[dbo].[MyTime]',
LookUp(
'[dbo].[MyTime]',
UserGUID = SelectUserTimesheet.Selected.UserGUID && Year = Value(Dropdown_SelectYear_2.Selected.Year) && Month = Value(Dropdown_SelectMonth_2.SelectedText.Id)
),
{Locked: "true"}
)
);

The idea is to update (Patch) all the table records based on the selected criteria (User, Year and Month). I've tried just using one selection value but still can only update the first record encountered that meets the requirement.

I suspect that I'm missing something obvious but I'm at a loss as to what.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried UpdateIf()

I would also look at Filter in stead of lookup

I would also look at creating a hidden label for SelectUserTimesheet.Selected.UserGUID && Year = Value(Dropdown_SelectYear_2.Selected.Year) && Month = Value(Dropdown_SelectMonth_2.SelectedText.Id)

Then base you filter on the label

 So a Patch that looks like Patch(Filter('[dbo].[MyTime]',UserGUID = Label?Text),{Locked: "true"})

Anonymous
Not applicable

Totally missed the UpdateIf() function... simple easy and quick.

Here's the finished and working code.

UpdateIf(
'[dbo].[MyTime]',
UserGUID = SelectUserTimesheet.Selected.UserGUID && Year = Value(Dropdown_SelectYear_2.Selected.Year) && Month = Value(Dropdown_SelectMonth_2.SelectedText.Id),
{Locked: "true"}
);

Many thanks
