Patch Function Difficulties

Hi,

I have created a very basic survey with 2 yes/no questions and i want to store the results in a Sharepoint list. I have created the Sharepoint list (named SurveyDemo) and connected it to my PowerApp. However, when using the 'patch' function to create a new record (using defaults) no new records appear in my Sharepoint list. I have attached some screenshots explaining this in pictures and would appreciate any advice.

Thank you!!

Hi @NathanMowat ,

I agree with @eka24 to ensure that you have permissions on the as contributor minimum. Once you are sure that you have permissions. use monitor feature to see what is happening in PowerApp.

Monitor will show you what is happening on every call in your App.

Your formula seems ok. Do you the permissions in SharePoint to write New Data.

Firstly, thank you for your reply. I am able to add new sites to Sharepoint and add documents to libraries etc, so does this mean i have the ability to add data? If not, how would i go about checking this.

Hi @KrishnaV ,

Thank you for this, i have made some progress. When i fill out the form myself, the data records in the Sharepoint list. However, when i share the site with other users, who are not permitted on the Sharepoint site, their data does not appear. If a user does not have site permissions for the Sharepoint list, will their answers appear in the list?

Furthermore, if this is the case,  is there a better way to save data from a power app survey using another connection?

Cheers!!

Hi @NathanMowat ,

To record / save answers in SharePoint the user must have contribute permissions if not they can't save their data.

Unfortunately, this is the only way if you go with SharePoint if not you may create a CDS entity for this and store in that.

Note: For CDS you need additional licenses and it is expensive too.

Hi @KrishnaV

This makes sense now, thank you for your assistance!! I still have a few weeks in my trial phase so will explore using a CDS entity for the survey.

Many thanks

Nathan
