Patch line of code to save selected values from 2 drop downs. URGENT HELP!

Hello,  I am building an app to aide in a certain pandemic for work and am running into issues.

I have a form I am creating for colleagues to submit a request.  I am using Galleries to make my form have repeating tables.  At the moment I am building the submission form and am having trouble using the 'Patch' formula to save the information selected.

I am fine with the text fields.  Where I have trouble is receiving an error for my 2 drop downs (drop down data fed by datasheet in SharePoint, so that I can add and remove as needed without touching the form.  First drop down filters the second drop down) and a toggle button.

Please Help!  I need this prototype done by Monday at noon.

Hi @Ceraeh13 ,

Could you tell me:
1)whether Lot and DUTypeDes  are two drop downs, not combo boxes, or other controls?

2)the items property in these two drop downs?

Let me firstly explain where are your problems:

1)Lot field and DUTP field are text type, so you need to use text to update.

"dropdownname.selected" represents a record, not text.

2)QTY field and CSDS field are number type, so you need to use number to  update.

"textinputname.Text" represents text, you need to use Value() function to transfer text to number.

3)In this formula "dropdownname.selected.fieldname" , fieldname is decided by the table in drop down's Items.

The reason why you could use "DUTypeDes.Selected.Result" for DUTypeDes drop down is because that this drop down's Items has a column named Result.

However, Lot drop down does not have a column named Result, so you could not use "Lot.Selected.Result".

Please tell me which column in the Lot drop down's Items do you want to use to update  Lot field?

Based on the screenshoots that you provided, I think the  Lot drop down's Items has a column named Lot  and you want to update with this field.

If so, you should use this formula to update:

Patch(RequesterCollection,ThisItem,{SiteID:SiteID.Text,Lot:Lot.Selected.Lot,DUTD:DUTypeDes.Selected.Result,QTY:Value(QTY.Text),CSDS:Value(CSDS.Text)})

If this still incorrect, please show me the formula in Lot drop down's Items.

@Ceraeh13

Firstly, please do not use a Subject Line of URGENT HELP!   It takes longer for 'solvers' to understand what your post is about and decide whether we have the knowledge to help.  I'm also pretty sure everyone feels their problem is urgent.

Secondly, the error message says the CSDS field expects a Number but received Text instead.  To convert it to a number do this:

CSDS: Value(CSDSOrder.Text)

Do the same for your other fields that require a Number data type.

My sincere apologies for the rude subject line.  I complete agree, everyone thinks there issue is urgent.

I have tried the Value() route for each of the errors.  Come say it sees text but it looking for 'Record'.  The vallue approach did not work.

I do appreciate your quick response.  I tried to update my subject line, but I did not want to mess up the post.

@Ceraeh13
No worries.  Next time I'm sure you'll use a different subject line.

The problem is you left a gap between 'Value' and '(' like this

CSDS: Value (CSDSOrder.Text)

There should not be any gap

CSDS: Value(CSDSOrder.Text)

Oh I certainly will!  I hate bad etiquette, I was just in a rush.

I get the same error when I remove the space.

@Ceraeh13
The remaining two fields are likely not Text Inputs.  My solution only works for Text Inputs.

What data-type is Lot & DuTypeDes?  What type of control are you using in the form to select them (example: dropdown, combobox, etc.?)

Hello,

They are drop downs being driven by a datasheet in SharePoint.  However it is just text within the drop downs.

@Ceraeh13

For a dropdown you would need to do either this...

Lot: Lot.Selected.Value

Or this...

Lot: Value(Lot.Selected.Value)

If the column name 'Value' is not recognized you'll need to supply whatever is suggested by the auto-complete.

I just wanted to say, thank for all of this help thus far.  Unfortunately I am still getting errors.

It did not like value for the DUTD, not sure if it is taking it for LOT, but only seeing the DUTD error.

What about the error when it says it expected 'Text', but found 'Record'?

I tried the suggested 'SelectedText' and that did not work either. 😞

@Ceraeh13
Please tell me: what is the data type for DUTD and LOT?

Then also share a screenshot of your app.
