People picker in form doesn't save inside sharepoint list

I'm stuck at this issue for a few days and I'm getting fed up. 😫
Everything in the edit form can be saved except the people picker combo box doesn't save into SharePoint list after being selected.

Really appreciate if someone can solve this for me 🙏

Hi @1_IT-Intern ,

Could you tell me:

  • What is the formula for the items property of the combo box?
  • Is the setting of your combo box single selection?
  • What is the data type of the field in the list that saves the combo boxs data?
  • Does the formula report an error? What is the content of the error?
  • Does the person column allow multiple selections?

Because of the lack of information ,so I assumed some conditions.

I assumed:

  • The formula in your combo boxs Items property is Office365Users.SearchUser().
  • Your combo box uses single selection.
  • The data type of field in the list is person.
  • The person column do not allow multiple selelctions.

I've made a test for your reference:

1\ This is my test list LIST23

v-xiaochen-msft_0-1606800787547.png

2\ Set the combo boxs Items property to:

Office365Users.SearchUser()

3\ Set the Cards Update property to:

{Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|"& DataCardValue3.Selected.Mail,Email:DataCardValue3.Selected.Mail,DisplayName:DataCardValue3.Selected.DisplayName,Department:"",JobTitle:"",Picture:""}

// ‘DataCardValue3’ is the name of the combo box’s card.

Hi @v-xiaochen-msft ,
Thanks for commenting on my post

Below these are info that you wanna know:
1. Formula in the items property
      Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:AssignedToValue.SearchText})
2. Yes, I only need one person
3. The data type in the SP List is person or group
4. No, no error so far
5. No, only one selection

Hi @v-xiaochen-msft ,

Yes, I have tried your solution but it is not working, still unable to save in SP list.

No error shown so far.

I have issues with date and time picker, should I just ask you right here or should I create a new post?

Hi @1_IT-Intern ,

I modified my solution to make it more detailed and you can try the following.

1\ This is my test list LIST23

v-xiaochen-msft_0-1606813580560.png

2\ Add an edit form and set its DataSource property to:

LIST23

3\ Set the edit form ‘s fields.

v-xiaochen-msft_1-1606813580565.png

// The name of edit form is ‘Form1’

4\ Set the combo boxs Items property to:

Office365Users.SearchUser()

5\ Add an Icon and set its onselect property to:

NewForm(Form1)

6\ Add an Icon and set its onselect property to:

SubmitForm(Form1)

7\ Set the Cards Update property to:

{Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|"& DataCardValue2.Selected.Mail,Email:DataCardValue2.Selected.Mail,DisplayName:DataCardValue2.Selected.DisplayName,Department:"",JobTitle:"",Picture:""}

// ‘DataCardValue2’ is the name of the combo box.

8\ Select a user in combo box.( Instead of entering a string in the combo box, Select a user from the drop-down menu)

9\ The result is as follows:

If you still have any question, please dont hesitate to let me know.

In addition, If you have issues with date and time picker, I suggest you create a new post.

Best Regards,

Wearsky

Hi @v-xiaochen-msft ,

I had followed your solution but at the end still not able to update into the SP List 😞
Everything in the form will save into SP List except the assigned to's combo box when I press update button.

Hi @1_IT-Intern ,

Could you tell me:

  • What’s ‘AssignedToValue’? Is it the name of the combo box?

v-xiaochen-msft_12-1606876981926.png

If so, you can't just search in the combo box. You should choose a value you searched for.

For example:

1\ I entered 'wea' in the combo box. Then the combo box found the user'wearsky'.

2\ I click it to select

v-xiaochen-msft_14-1606876981928.png

3\ I submit this record and display the result.

Hi @v-xiaochen-msft ,

Yes, the AssignedToValue is the name of the combo box.
Owhh I see, I have removed the searchTerm and try submit again and at the end still can't update into SP List 😞

Hi @v-xiaochen-msft ,

I followed exactly your way but still cant update into my SP List.
Do you have any other idea?
The card is inside the form but I don't know why can't update into SP List.
I'm getting fed up since this is the last thing I need to solve for my app. 😞

The name of the combo box is AssignedToValue
