Performance issues while connected to On Premise SQL via Gateway

Hi All,

We have developed Power Apps which connects to On-Premise SQL via Gateway.

-There is one table with 300+ records with 60 columns out of which only around 20 columns needs to be displayed in the Data Table

-There are 5 columns which we use to filter the data, for that separate dropdowns are present at the top

-Currently it takes 15 seconds to come to home screen, even after using Show Columns formula to display those 20 columns.

-Access control of currently logged in user is managed in SQL tables, which is checked each time Data Table loads.

-Few collections are created on screen load of Home Screen which are used in dropdowns of other screens.

Please suggest pointers for performance improvements.

Hi @SidhharthM :

Usually this problem indicates that your GateWay and SSMS needs to be updated.

1\Update GateWay and SSMS

2\Restart the GateWay

3\Reset the connection

I think this link will help you a lot:

In addition, maybe you can try to use a view as a data source to reduce the burden of PowerApps (first preprocess the data in the data source and then load it into PowerApps)

Step1\Create a view in your data base

CREATE VIEW NewView AS /*NewView is the name of my custom view*/
SELECT column1,column2,column3,column4,column5
FROM yourtable

Step2\Add the view as the data source

Best Regards,

We are trying to see if this is actual gateway issue by doing some plain bulk operation and observe the timings. We tried few optimizations at code level in Power Apps which helped a lot.
