Power App Forms

In power app forms. Is there a way to pick an item from a dropdown1 and have the picked item prompt you to a screen (form) already created within the app. Can this also be done with every dropdown1 item within that column.

@SK76 - if I understand correctly, a user selects something from a dropdown control, and based on the selected item, the user is navigated to a specific Screen? Note that a Screen and a Form are completely different objects.

Thank you for responding. Yes, that is correct. The navigation would be to a screen.

@SK76  a basic example applied to the OnChange property of a dropdown control:

Switch(
    Dropdown1.SelectedText.Value,
    "1",
    Navigate(Screen1),
    "2",
    Navigate(Screen2),
    Navigate(Screen3) //your current screen/where the dropdown control is
)

Dropdown1 is a DataCardValue. I apologize. Does this change anything. Also  would the "1" stand for name of column. Really struggling new to this.

Is DataCardValue a dropdown in your form?

"1" and "2" are just random dropdown choices I used as an example. If we pretend your dropdown choice had three options, "Red", "Green", and "Blue". In that case, we would change the formula to:

Switch(
    Dropdown1.SelectedText.Value,
    "Red",
    Navigate(Screen1),
    "Green",
    Navigate(Screen2),
    "Blue",
    Navigate(Screen3),
    Navigate(Screen4) your current screen/where the dropdown control is
)

Screen1, Screen2, Screen3 and Screen4 are random Screen Names I made up. You would need to replace these with the actual names of the Screen you want to navigate to.

In the above example, if "Red" is chosen from the dropdown, the App will automatically navigate the user to Screen1, if "Green" is chosen from the dropdown, then the App will automatically navigate the user to Screen2, and so on.

For more help on what a Switch function is, the below tutorial should help:

Suppose you have a dropdown control and in that dropdown are 2 options:

"1" and "2" are meaningless, they are just examples

Yes, the DataCardValue is a dropdown in my form. So, should I use Dropdown, DataCardValue or the header of the column to start the formula.

@SK76 - You would use whatever the name is for the dropdown control and for the Screens.

1. Unlock the Data Card if you have not already

2. Click on the Data Card Value and then select OnChange from the Properties menu

Amik_1-1683671453116.png

3. Paste in this code into the Formula bar:

Switch(
    Text(DataCardValue8.Selected.Value),
    "Red",
    Navigate(Screen1),
    "Green",
    Navigate(Screen2),
    "Blue",
    Navigate(Screen3),
    Navigate(Screen4) //your current screen/where the dropdown control is
)

4. Change DataCardValue8 to the name of your Data Card Value.

5. Replace the Screen names with your Screen names

I would also recommend watching some Power Apps beginner tutorial videos on YouTube. Anything from Shane Young and Reza Dorrani would help.
