Power Apps Data Export via Flow is expecting a number value instead.

Hi PA Community,

I need a little assistance with a formula to export data with a dynamic gallery selection

I'm using the ExportTasks.Run command to filter a gallery and send the data via email in the form of an HTML table, using Power Automate built into the app. I'm getting an error expecting a number value instead.

mc00515_0-1686756049831.png

The Export Button OnSelect has the following code

ExportTasks.Run("StartsWith(Department,'"& TextInput1.Text &"')",User().Email);
Notify("Export Process Started. You will receive an Email once Completed.", SuccessScreenUpdate,3000)

Gives the following error

What am I doing wrong please?

Hi @Anonymous ,

The Notify function expects a certain value to be passed for the NotificationType. You are passing "SuccessScreenUpdate" which is not valid. Please try:

ExportTasks.Run("StartsWith(Department,'"& TextInput1.Text &"')",User().Email);
Notify("Export Process Started. You will receive an Email once Completed.", NotificationType.Success,3000)

Hi @Anonymous ,

Probably Department is not the internal name of that column.

To get the internal name, go to your list, click the options button -> 'List Settings'

Click on the column you're trying to update to open the column settings page

Look at the URL of the page, the name at the end is the true name of your column. Copy and paste this to your flow.

Hi @Anonymous ,

It seems you have removed the filter from the Get Items action. If I compare the latest screenshot against an earlier one, the Filter Query field is missing.

Thankyou so much @BCBuizer , that fixed the ExportTasks.Run command. Unfortunately, the Flow has failed.

Please could you glance over this and

mc00515_1-1686757273943.png

Is it because I am using StartsWith instead of all lower case?

So I changed "StartsWith" to "startswith" in the ExportsTask.Run comand of the App. It fixes the App but breaks the Flow - which is saying that Department does not exist.

mc00515_0-1686758881410.png

This, of course is nonsense, because the column still exists in SP:

Here's the control

Here's the Get items inputs of the flow:

Hey thanks @BCBuizer . The flow now works (will explain how a little further on), but it's not filtering on Department as expected.  I have to say though. it sends me an email with the results super quick. So far so good however, like I said it's not filtering by department.

You are correct, the real internal name of Department is "field_1" but I wasn't quite sure where to fit it in the flow. I did replace the value "Department" in the Power App search box and it tested fine.

So the flow worked after taking a hint from the link you provided to a similar solution proffered by @v-bacao-msft.

That community support advised the following...

"Try not to configure Filter Query and Limit Columns by View first..."

I removed the custom column values and instead chose Limit columns by view in Get Items.

I had created a custom view in SharePoint called AreasforImprovement, that filters 6 columns out of about 16. That's what I selected for Get Items:

mc00515_0-1686828566371.png

This has 2 inputs: Query and MailTo:

mc00515_3-1686780789815.png

But if I filter the app search box and type in the 2 letter department code ( "HB" in the example above), it spits out every department instead:

mc00515_4-1686780950726.png

The App is filtering by department but not the flow. How to I get the flow to follow exactly the output from the App?

I appreciate your sharp eyes @BCBuizer . Yes the Query was missing , and your previous advice worked

Returning to your earlier guidance....If I take the last term reference in the List settings

When I plugged "field_1" into the App search and run the export, bingo it works.
