The new Power Apps grid control in model-driven apps is officially in public preview! This control can be used for both read-only and editable scenarios, supports infinite scrolling for a modern browsing experience, and allows pro-dev makers to customize the appearance of cells. A new blog post and documentation for this should be available soon!
As you try out and use this new grid control, we'd love to hear your feedback! What went well and what didn't? What additional features do you want or need from the grid? This community post will be used to consolidate feedback on the Power Apps grid control. Thanks in advance for your comments!
The control is not responsive. So It's not using the horisontal space on the screen like the old Read only Grid control does. It seems to be using the width defined on the view. It's much better to have it responsive, since users will be having all kinds of resolution on their screens it is impossible for the app maker to optimize it by defining a fixed width. The control should render each columns width calculated in comparison on the other columns on the view. So if there are three columns each with 100px width defined that would translate into 33,333% width allocated to each column. If you resize the screen or change resolution the width of each column should be recalulated based on the new size.
It should be possible to turn of the extreemly annoying feature that suddenly renders each row in a 3 coloumn vertial style with the small round picture icon in front of each row. This happens when the horisontal space for the view is not very wide. Users are very confused by this feature. If they chane the zoom factor in their browser the list suddenly renders in a completely different way. It might make sense on mobile devices but is really counterproductive on laptops. So at least allow us to turn it off.
@ThomasRathCGIDK Thank you for the feedback. We are adjusting the sizing algorithm for column widths and that will be in place before the control becomes generally available.
@ThomasRathCGIDK All the platform grids (except the legacy editable grid) have a "Reflow behavior" property that gives you the option to always render as a tabular grid, always render as the narrow list, or let the control switch to a list for narrow viewports.
@jasongre Does the above scenario make sense? Do you need any additional information? Will the new grid work with Multi-Table Lookups?
When is this going GA?
The shrunken subgrid is holding us back from using this control.
Hi @jasongre, is the version of this grid control that supported grouping and aggregation no longer being released? For us this was a huge item we were looking forward to testing and using as the current legacy editable grid with grouping is not up to the standard we would expect for production deployments.
Cheers,
Dylan
I've confirmed that the edit function of the grid does not work with Multi-Table Lookups:
Please fix this before release.
