Power BI and PowerApps update dataset

Hello PowerApps Community!

I am pretty new to PowerApps, but have been using Power BI for the past 6 months. I heard about the feature of integrating Power BI with PowerApps. I have watched the Shane Young and Mircosoft Power BI youtube links for integrating PowerApps into Power BI. Though they do not help me answer my predicament.

I have created a table in Power BI that lives in SQL with a list of missing data fields (Numerator and Denominator) for a list of hospitals. With PowerApps and Power BI integration I thought i would be able to not only display the hospital's missing data, but also provide them with an actionable visualization. The basic user experience would be they click on their hospital filter (or crossfilter) and the embedded PowerApp would filter to that specific value. Then when they click on the PowerApp viz they would be able to update the data table within Power BI.

I have been able to get the Gallery within the PowerApp to crossfilter with what is selected in the Power BI viz. Though when I try to use the EditForm in PowerApps it is not acting as expected. I did use this Formula:

Item of EditForm2: First(Filter('[dbo].[tblHIINPowerApps]',RowID = Gallery3.Selected.RowID))

to bring in the data from the selected Gallery in Screen1. Is there a way that I can bring this data in and also change it and then update the data set? I think it has to do with the Item Formula that i copied from another post, I have no idea what it does....:P

Thanks,

Dom

Hi @Kuljisd1 ,

Could you please share a bit more about your issue?

Do you mean that you could not edit the record within your Edit form?

Have you defined a PRIMARY KEY within your '[dbo].[tblHIINPowerApps]' table?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side, and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

On your side, please consider re-embed a new canvas app within your Power BI report using the "PowerApps Custom Visual" option. When the following dialog shows up, please choose "Create new":7.JPG

More details about embedding canvas app in Power BI report, please check the following blog:

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/de-de/blog/powerbi-powerapps-visual/

In addition, please also check if you have defined a PRIMARY KEY in your '[dbo].[tblHIINPowerApps]' SQL Table. If you do not defined a PRIMARY KEY within your '[dbo].[tblHIINPowerApps]' SQL Table, you could not edit your SQL Table records using Edit form in PowerApps app.
