PowerApp DateTime and SharePoint DateTime both set to correct time zone but DateTime changes in list

Hi I am having an issue where the local DateTime is not being used on a SharePoint list. My SharePoint site regional settings are set to South Africa (see attached file).

I created a SharePoint list of Employees with start Date Time In and Date Time Out. I then used that list to create a PowerApp. In the PowerApp I have set the DatePicker to use Local time. All the users phones are set to Regional Setting: South Africa (UTC+2).

When a user adds the Date Time In and or DateTime Out the date is correct in the PowerApp built. However on the list in SharePoint it is 7 hours behind. I am beginning to think the SharePoint site is ignoring the Regional setting.

Any ideas?

We have a hosted SharePoint server using what I believe is a Microsoft server sold by a Microsoft Partner.

I am not sure if this is the correct Forum, I am sure I will be blasted if it is not.

Re: PowerApp DateTime and SharePoint DateTime both set to correct time zone but DateTime changes in list

Hi @QuafferMac ,

No problem with the Forum, but your SharePoint Regional Settings are definitely setting your input to UTC time. I assume reading back (existing records) in PowerApps, it is showing the correct time, so there is a conversation is happening in the reverse.

This bit is different to the normal however - We have a hosted SharePoint server using what I believe is a Microsoft server sold by a Microsoft Partner

You might try lodging a Support Ticket with Microsoft and they may have the answer for you.

So let me get this right, you are saying that even though I set the SharePoint time zone correctly, it is being ignored?

@QuafferMac ,

I am simply making an observation based on the information you provided. You are correct in that it should not be ignoring the SharePoint time zone (I am also a SharePoint user and have never had any timezone issues). The variable here is your hosted server and I was suggesting that the best and quickest solution for you is to lodge a support ticket.

Re: PowerApp DateTime and SharePoint DateTime both set to correct time zone but DateTime changes in list

Ok I udnerstand - I did log a call with my host provider and they said that the PowerApp was set to UTC. I then went and check and set the Date Picker to Local (actually it was already) and so that was not the issue. They have not come back to me so I have logged another call. But I do believe that the TimeZone is being overwritten and set to Redmond Time zone.

Thanks

No Problem @QuafferMac ,

It is easy for them to blame Power Apps . . .

If this was widespread, it would be all over the forum. The only other posts I have seen on UTC conversion related to people using Power Apps in different time zones to the server and a couple on Excel.

They are not interested in helping. They responded that since they did not write the PowerApp they cannot help. The issue I am sure is on SharePoint's side. The regional setting is South Africa. I tried to change my personal settings and still no luck. I think I am just going to store TUC and then manipulate the list in Excel when I need it. Very disappointing.

Re: PowerApp DateTime and SharePoint DateTime both set to correct time zone but DateTime changes in list

Thanks @QuafferMac ,

All is not lost however - you could use the TimeZoneOffset function in PowerApps, which shows the stored time +/- UTC to the user's timezone. It gets a bit tricky between reading and writing, hence I suggested it was better to fix the problem.
