PowerApps Calendar App not displaying 2020 Events from Sharepoint

Hi Everyone,

I am creating a vacation request app that works well with our Sharepoint vacation calendar. All the sharepoint events are displaying on the galleries and the calendar screen properly except for the 2020 events. I have tried refreshing the data source multiple times, but not getting any results for 2020. Anyone have an idea why that is?

Thanks!

Re: PowerApps Calendar App not displaying 2020 Events from Sharepoint

Do you have any filtering applied to the Data Source (SharePoint)?

Perhaps it was setup for a specific year?

The field in question, it's a date field?

How many records (Events) are there?

Are you collecting the data (i.e. maybe hitting a delegation limit)?

The field in question, it's a date field? Date and Time

How many records (Events) are there? A lot. Events since 2011

Are you collecting the data (i.e. maybe hitting a delegation limit)? Not collecting data

None of the events from 2020 are displaying and many events from the previous years are missing. Even when we set the items of the gallery as the name of the sharepoint calendar, it still does not give us ALL the events.

Re: PowerApps Calendar App not displaying 2020 Events from Sharepoint

This strikes me as behavior where the Data Source is retrieving the Events data, but not in the order/as much as you're expecting at once. The default behavior of Galleries is to get as much as data as the User can see/interact with, and then delegate retrieving of additional records until they scroll/cause the control to request more data.

This basically means that you might be getting the Events, but if they have not been filtered/order, they may appear to be missing some, depending on what the default way that SharePoint gives the app the data.

You may want to consider sorting the Events so the newest (by the date field) are shown first.

SortByColumns('{SharePoint List}',"{Date Field}",Ascending)

SharePoint is finicky with delegation. Both Search and Filter are subject to strict rules, and usually only allow an equals operator to be applied.

Check out this post, for an advanced mechanism, for collecting all SharePoint records. Once collected into the App, you'll have A LOT more options for searching the collection/filtering/etc.

Re: PowerApps Calendar App not displaying 2020 Events from Sharepoint

Hi @consultantlk ,

Could you please share a bit more about your issue?

Do you mean that the events created after 2020 could not show up within your Gallery?

Further, could you please share more details about the formula typed within the Items property of the Gallery?

As an alternative solution, please consider sort your Gallery Items based on the "Created" field value of the SP List Calendar Event. Set the Items property of the Gallery to following:

SortByColumns('SP Calendar List', "Created", Descending)

In addition, you could consider generate an app based on your SP Calendar List, then it would generate three screens, check if the Calendar SP List events created after 2020 could be displayed well within the Gallery:

Set the Items property of the Gallery to following:

SortByColumns(Filter([@'20190321_Calendar'], StartsWith(Title, TextSearchBox1.Text)), "Created", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending))
