PowerApps/Dynamics 9 MultiSelect Option Set: empty selection allowed in Dynamics but not PowerApps

I am using MultiSelect Option Set attributes introduced in Dynamics versions 9.
In Dynamics itself and Dynamics forms there are no issues with selecting none of the Multiselect options or changing them to none selected.
However, in PowerApps, using a standard "Form screen" and "Fields" with automatically generated data cards for the Multiselect Option Set attributes and "SubmitForm", selecting none of the options yields

"Edm Object passed should have the options selected"

Question:

  1. Does Multiselect Option Set (in Dynamics) officially support "none selected"?
  2. If yes, is my observed behaviour a bug/missing feature in PowerApps?

Currently I have to use workarounds similar to:

UpdateContext({
    MultiselectEmpty: (CountRows(ComboBoxInput.SelectedItems) > 0),
    OldId: SelectedItem.id
});
Patch(
    DataSource,
    If(NewItem || MultiselectEmpty, Blank(), OldId),
    { key: value, … },
    If(!MultiselectEmpty, {_multiselect_attribute_label: ComboBoxInput.SelectedItems}, {})
);
If(!NewItem && MultiselectEmpty, Remove(DataSource, {id: OldId}))

Re: PowerApps/Dynamics 9 MultiSelect Option Set: empty selection allowed in Dynamics but not PowerAp

Seems like with PowerApps 3.19013.14 and the new Preview Feature (default on) "Relational data, Option Set" etc, and standard form control, the issue is gone, and empty selections are allowed.

Re: PowerApps/Dynamics 9 MultiSelect Option Set: empty selection allowed in Dynamics but not PowerAp

Hi @SaWu,

Could you please share a screenshot of your app's configuration?

Please check if you have set the Field Requiredment property of the Multiselect Option Set type column within your to Required. If yes, please set it to Optional, then check if the issue is solved.

If you could provide more details about your scenario, we could provide a proper workaround for you.

Best regards,

Kris

Re: PowerApps/Dynamics 9 MultiSelect Option Set: empty selection allowed in Dynamics but not PowerAp

The property is set as "optional":
My issue isn't per se with this "optional setting".
My issue is that an empty selection, selecting none seems to be only possible when using Dynamics directly instead of PowerApps

Here are the field attributes

There are the Form, field, Combo Box properties

This shows the error, the tick icon has SubmitForm as OnSelect action.
