PowerApps (dropdown cascade) does not save into SharePoint

Hi everyone

I have customized SharePoint form through PowerApps. I have created a dropdown cascade (every time that I select a location a place, according to that selection appear to be selected- as wanted). However, when I click save in SharePoint list, it doesn't  save.

LuciadelCampo_0-1631489513199.png this is the form... the dropdown options comes from another SharePoint list.

I have been the whole week trying to fix this, had made lots of changes but still no save.

Hope someone can help me

Lucia

Hi @LuciadelCampo ,

If I have read your response correctly (you provided a bit of information I did not need to confuse the matter a little),

The Update of the data card should be

{Value:place_input.Selected.Result}

and the DefaultSelectedItems of the Combo Box

{Result:ThisItem.Title.Value}

This is assuming place_input is the name of the combo box and the Choice field Title is being written to (I am hesitant about the last bit as Title is normally a Single Line of Text).

Hi @LuciadelCampo ,

I just need the following pieces of information

  • Is that a drop-down or a combo box and what is its name ?
  • What is its Items property ?
  • What is the Update property of the card it is in ?
  • What is the name of the list and field it is writing to and what type of field is it ?

Hi @ WarrenBelz

1. is a combo box

2. Distinct(Filter(Location_Place_Relationship,Loc_source.Value= location_input.Selected.Value),Title)

       where:

  • Location_Place_Relationship is the list with the dropdown  in SharePoint
  • Loc_source: is the column with the location information in SharePoint
  • location_input: is the location input by user
  • Title:  is the column with the place information in SharePoint

3- the update is: place_input.Selected

4- The type of field is a choice in SharePoint

Is this what you are asking for?

Many thanks

Working now!!! uff weeks trying to solve it!

Hi @WarrenBelz

Can you please help me with the other fields?  Its  seems that what worked for one field is not working for others?

So, the SharePoint (shp) list that is update with the PowerApps is HW- large items

The dropdown list comes from other SharePoint  lists that show the options according to the category. Eg. If its phone, os will be Android/iOS but if is computer Windows…

The fields that I am having trouble are Operation System, Operation System Information and CPU.

  1. OPERATION SYSTEM:

 The dropdown doesnot show me the options.

Values:

Card

  • Default: ThisItem.os ….. If I put ThisItem.os.Value the red cross appears
  • Update: DataCardValue4.Selected.Result

Field

  • Items: Distinct(Filter(Relationship_os_category,Title= Category_input.Selected.Value),os)

  1. OPERATION SYSTEM INFORMATION

The red cross on the card:

The red cross on the field:

Has the yellow triangle sign that correspond to this

I have tried lot of things but anything seems to be working

Many thanks

@LuciadelCampo ,

What type of fields are these in SharePoint?

They are choice columns, in both SharePoint lists (in the one I am customizing form and the data source)
