PowerApps in Teams showing the incorrect Date format

Hello

So today I added a PowerApp to one of our Team channels. When the app loads in the desktop version of Teams it uses the US date format. It's fine on the Web Version of Teams (UK Format)

I've checked the language settings in Teams (desktop) and the language is set to UK. The keyboard layout cant be changed from US to UK.

The regional settings are all set correctly on Windows 10.

Anyone else come across this? Have I forgotten to do something?

Will

Re: PowerApps in Teams showing the incorrect Date format

Hi @WillEdz ,

If you want the date format always to be shown in UK date format, then please use a formula like below in PowerApps to achieve this:

Text(ThisItem.StartDate, "dd/mm/yyyy")

Re: PowerApps in Teams showing the incorrect Date format

Sorry to jump onto this thread. I'm having the same issue, but in my case it is with currency, in the web I'm correctly getting the UK Pound sign, when using the app from within the Teams desktop client I'm getting US Dollar sign.

Any advice?

Thanks

Re: PowerApps in Teams showing the incorrect Date format

I'm afraid I'm still having issues with this

Text(ThisItem.'Expense Value',"[$-en-GB]£###.00")

Is the code I'm using to display the Expense. Works in the browser but not in Teams.

Have attached screen shots

It's delaying my role out of Teams - Mighty annoying

Re: PowerApps in Teams showing the incorrect Date format

Hi,

This is the same issue I am having, so I think it belongs here as well.

Looks to me almost like the in-app browser that Teams is using isn't applying regional settings. In fact, I've just tried the Teams Web app and that is applying UK formatting, so this is a limitation of the Teams Desktop client.

Regards

Re: PowerApps in Teams showing the incorrect Date format

In Teams settings there is a Language selection option - it refers to the date and time format.

You would think that this would also change the currency.

There is no UK Keyboard option. I've just tried the German Keyboard but it still displays in $ not Euro's

Anyone got any Ideas???

Hi Tim

Did you figure out how to get teams to to display the power app in the correct currency?

Re: PowerApps in Teams showing the incorrect Date format

@WillEdz unfortunatly not, I did report the issue to some of the Microsoft staff whilst at the Ignite Tour London recently, and there is a uservoice related to the issue that needs more people to vote on https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/39350968-teams-does-not-use-re...

@v-monli-msft Can you help with this issue getting more visibility as I've been able to verify for myself that the problem only appears when using the Teams Desktop client, if you access the Power App from either the powerapps website or from the teams website (in a correctly configured browser) then you get the settings for your region.

As the solution above about hardcoding your required setting to a fixed value currency symbol and date format are not always going to be the applicable solution.
