PowerApps licensing and use case scenarios

Hi all;

Just looking for some general information -- our org is starting to look at PowerApps as a solution platform, but before we go too far I want to be sure we understand the licensing implications.

Currently, all of our users have the E3 Office365 PowerApps license.

Some of the scenarios I'd like to be able to support are listed below.  I'm just having difficulty finding out whether PowerApps can be managed to cover these scenarios, and if so what licensing levels are required:

  • Some users should only be able to use PowerApps, and not create.  Is this restriction possible?
  • Can we restrict users so that they can use connections (for example, Sql connections to an on-premise data gateway) as part of Apps published to them, but not re-use those connections in any apps that they create?

Thanks in advance.  I have reviewed the licensing page, but am having trouble sorting out the information above.

Re: PowerApps licensing and use case scenarios

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, please review the Share App part.

2. This is not possible. Once the connection permission has been shared with someone, he can use it with all the Apps, currenlty there is no restriction could be implemented on that part.

Check more here.

Can use - Can use the connection.
Can use + share - Can use and share the connection.
Can edit - Can edit or update the connection.
Owner - Connection owner is the person who created the connection. Only the Owner can delete a connection.
