PowerApps passing filter through URL

Hello ,

             I have created a application where I will be sending filter for combobox based on my app URL

APP OnStart : Set(Selection,Param("ComboBox"))
ComboBox properties :
Items : SortByColumns('[dbo].[Program]',"Program_Name") DefaultSelectedItems : Filter(col2, Program_Name in Selection).Program_Name APP URL : https://web.powerapps.com/apps/GUID?TargetScreen=Screen2&ComboBox=CINEMAS

In the above URL I would like to pass something like this in URL ComboBox=Corporate Booking. So the URL will be like this

APP URL : https://web.powerapps.com/apps/GUID?TargetScreen=Screen2&ComboBox=Corporate Booking

It automatically changes the space to + when I enter above URL. I even tried %20 and %2 but none works.

Please help in solving this.

Thanks in Advance

Manoj

Re: PowerApps passing filter through URL

Hi @kullurumanoj ,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

It it a normal behaviour within App URL with appending parameters. The space within the appending parameters of App URL would be encoded with '+' symbol.

If you want to get the original value (Corporate Booking) rather than Corporate+Booking within your app, I think the Substitute() function could achieve your needs.

I have made a test on my side, please take a try with the following workaround:2.JPG

Your App URL should like this:

https://web.powerapps.com/apps/GUID?TargetScreen=Screen2&ComboBox=Corporate Booking

Set the OnStart property of the App control to following:

Set(
Selection,
If(
"+" in Param("ComboBox"),
Substitute(Param("ComboBox"),"+"," "),
Param("ComboBox")
)
)

More details about Substitute function, please check the following article:

Substitute function

Please take a try with above solution, then check if the issue is solved.

Re: PowerApps passing filter through URL

@kullurumanoj

Spaces in the URLs will get encoded with the +

From the last time I ran into this until now, I don't believe there has been any change in altering that.

So, the workaround option is this:

Set(Selection,Substitute(Param("ComboBox"), "+", " "))

I hope this is helpful for you.
