Hello, this is a super basic question but I've wasted all my weekend trying to make it work to no avail.
I have an excel spreadsheet and I want to link the table in it to a dropdown box.
I manage to link the table to the box but when I click it it shows no values, no matter what I do.
How can I do this properly? this is so frustrating
Can you show us a screenshot of the Properties pane when the dropdown is selected in the editor? There is a Value field in that panel. That is the name of the field in the value that will be shown in the dropdown.
If you are using a dropdown put this code in the Items property
Or if you are using a ComboBox put this code in both the Items property
Then put this code in both the DisplayFields and SearchFields properties
If you still do not see any results you might need to refresh your datasource (excel sheet). To do this, find your Excel sheet on the left-side menu, click the 3 dots beside it, then select Refresh.

What you've set up there looks correct to me.
To diagnose this further, could you add a data table control to your screen and set it up so that it displays your project and code fields?
If the data table control doesn't show any rows, that would suggest to me that is a problem with the data connector. In this instance, one of the first things to try is to refresh your Excel data source through the View > Data sources menu item.
Try switching the value property to Project instead of Code and see if that helps.
Based on the issue that you mentioned, do you want to populate the Dropdown with the 'Project' column or 'Code' column?
Could you please share more about your scenario, what is your data source name, is it called Project too? Please make sure that you have connected to the correct data source.
I have a test on my side, please take a try as below.
Add a Dropdown and set the Items property as below.
Table1.Project //You can replace Project with Code here if you want to.
If the Dropdown still doesn't show values. Please try to use FirstN(), if you have 3 items in 'Project' column, please set the Items property as below.
Note: "N" means how many items you want to display in the 'Project' column.
You can check the GIF for reference.
