Project Calculations App

I am very new to this platform but I work in real estate, and I thought it would be useful to create an App that our workers can use on-site to calculate projected costs for a building project, rental fees, etc. (obviously would be different apps depending on the purpose).

However, after trying to go through some of the guides and such, I am no closer to figure out what it is I should do to even get started.

In its most basic form, I want to base the app around tables like below:

CategorySizeCost/SizeTotal
AxxxxXX
ByyyyYY
Total  ZZ

And then interlinking their respective sums to create the final read-out.

Does anybody know of a good tutorial or does anyone have any tips on where to start with this?

I realise this may be quite broad to start

Hey @App_beginner_

Welcome to this community!

Have you checked out the app templates? Just go to "make.powerapps.com" and select "Create" on the left-hand side. There is are two templates "Cost Estimator" and "Estimator Pro" that could be similar to yours. Just select one of the templates and create it, then you can check out how it is built and run a test.

For me, I always make some sketch notes about how the app could look like, which information I need, where to store the data, etc.

Also check out the Power Apps Docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/

It is all learning by doing, if you face some problems, just create a new topic within this community forum and try to explain what is your current situation and what kind of problem you are struggling with.

Hope this will help you 🙂

Thank you very much for your response!

I think the "Cost Estimator" template will be the best thing to base it around. Also I appreciate the tutorial/instructional link you sent through. I will definitely have to read through it as much as possible before continuing further.

I believe I need to replicate some of these actions multiple times for sub calculations that need to be made in order to get to the final calculation.

But it should definitely be able to be built up on.
