Querying excel imported database for most frequent string in a column

On my powerapp, I have an imported DB from excel table like below. I want to display output of a frequent occuring value from colC depending on a matching condition from colA & colB

ColAColBColC
X1Y1Z1
X1Y1Z1
X1Y1Z2
X1Y2Z3
X1Y2Z4
X1Y2Z4

Matching condition is entered by the user on the app as an input on the form,

Example

Input matching query: X1 & Y2; Output: Z4

On excel I could use this formula

{=INDEX(C2:C6,MODE((A2:A6="X1")*(B2:B6="Y2")),MATCH(C2:C6,C2:C6,0))}

How can we achieve this in powerapps using functions and conditions so I dont have to hardcode the output in excel?

I could get rid of the runtime errors by removing doublequotes and .Text. Updated code here. However this isn't displaying any output when the country DC Value is blank.

LookUp(
    AddColumns(
        Distinct(
            Filter(
                VKGU_Positiondata,
				'Position Title' = DataCardValue9_1.Text,
                If(IsBlank(DataCardValue10_1), Blank(), 'Country' = DataCardValue10_1.Text)

				),
            Job_code
        ).Result,
        "Count",
        CountRows(
            Filter(
                VKGU_Positiondata,
                Job_code = Result
            )
        )
    ),
    Count = Max(Count),
    Result
)

@Anonymous

Now this works without runtime error and also displaying the desired output with or without Jobfamily (DC Value 14).

However, when Country (DC Value 10) is blank it doesnt work. Any clues?

LookUp(
    AddColumns(
        Distinct(
            Filter(
                Positiondata,
				'Position Title' = DataCardValue9_1.Text,
                If(IsBlank(DataCardValue10_1), Blank(), 'Country' = DataCardValue10_1.Text),
				If(!IsBlank(DataCardValue14_1.Selected.Value), 'Jobfamily' = DataCardValue14_1.Selected.Value, true)

				),
            Job_code
        ).Result,
        "Count",
        CountRows(
            Filter(
                Positiondata,
                Job_code = Result
            )
        )
    ),
    Count = Max(Count),
    Result
)

@gotovamsee

Use the exact same structure ie

If(!IsBlank(DataCardValue10_1), 'Country' = DataCardValue10_1.Text, true)

Yes, it all worked with that expression. Thanks a ton @Anonymous

@Anonymous

This nicely functioning canvas app is terribly struck by the delagation and its first 500 records limitation as you already warned.

My entity has 22K unique entries and requires all of them to determine a frequently occuring value. No experience converting these forumals into collections so my experiement did not work. Any help would be highly appreciated.

@gotovamsee

Is your data source Excel? is the file on OneDrive or on a PC?

I don't use Excel as a data source because of its limitations but I may be able to assist? Can you also supply the types of columns you are using eg do you have a distinct record reference, like an ID?

Columns that are numeric and sequential OR text and sequential may help building collections?

@Anonymous

Yes, my data source is excel which I uploaded it into an entity and connected to my canvas app. The offline excel copy is also available on our sharepoint and onedrive business.

The columns look like this below. 'PositionID' is the column with unique id's representing distinct records.

PositionidPositiontitleCountryJobcodeJobnameJobfamilySubfamilyCareerstreamJoblevel
51165352Title1Country1MAN608.206.1jobname1jobfamily1subfamily1careerstream16
51165353Title2Country1MAN608.205.1jobname1jobfamily2subfamily2careerstream15
51165354Title1Country2MAN608.206.1jobname1jobfamily1subfamily3careerstream16

The positionID's are nearly sequential but I can instead create a new column with absolute seq numbers if required for collections.

Looking forward..

@gotovamsee

By ' ... I uploaded it into an entity ...' do you mean you uploaded into a entity in the Common Data Service (CDS). If so, then as I understand it, delegation is barely - if at all - an issue.

This link has the delegation details for CDS and it's way better than SharePoint, which is what I use.

If CDS, you should be able to collect 50,000 records, from my read of this link, eg

// Create collection
ClearCollect( colMyRecords, yourEntityName)

// then on a lbel add this code to check how many records were returned
"No. of records: " & CountRows(colMyRecords)

@Anonymous

True, I started building this app over CDS entity hoping that there wont be delegation limitations. And your link also tells that.

Is that correct that I use your formula in the canvas app on a new field to check how many records it pull from the collection?

@Anonymous  I get 0 records.

I added a rectangle on this app screen and given a formula 'ClearCollect( colMyRecords, Positiondata)'

On the 'Data Sources' tab, I now see the collection 'colMyRecords'

Then added a new text input with the formula '"No. of records: " & CountRows(colMyRecords)'

And that gives a dsplay output as "No. of records: 0"
