Radom number that changes each 24 hours

Hello everyone,

I'm creating an app and need to add a text box that generates a random number, but I want this random number to be the same for 24 hours and changes again in the next day and so on.

So for each day, the same number.

Anyway to do that?

Thanks for helping 🙂

Hi @Greg68 ,

You would need a data source - a SharePoint list with one record that you would need to populate initially and needs a Date field and a Numeric field. To get a random number between 1 and 100 example.

With(
   {wRand: First(YourSPListName)},
   If(
      !IsToday(wRand.YourDateField),
      Patch(
         YourSPListName,
         {ID: wRand.ID},
         {
            YourDateField: Today(),
            YourNumberField:
            Round(
               Rand() * 100,
               0
            )
         }
      )
   )
)

You would need to run this at App OnStart so the first user would set the new number for everyone else.

Just a random comment (excuse the pun!) in case it's useful for anyone. Rather than call Round/Rand, an alternative way to retrieve a number between 1-100 is to call the RandBetween function like so.

RandBetween(1,100)
