Random metadata error

I have an app deployed/shared to my entire organization and some employees receive an error.  "Failed to read metadata from file source."

The app works fine for everyone else that tries it, but for some it does not.  This is using an Excel file shared via OneDrive and I've checked permissions on the file and the employees in questions have the appropriate permissions.  This is a PowerApp embedded via ifram into a SharePoint 2013 site.  The users are all using Chrome.

For some of the employees, having them close/reopen their browser fixes the issue, for others it does not.

I've seen another post from earlier this year about this error, but no resolution.

Thoughts, ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Re: Random metadata error

Hi @WI-User-01,

Could you please share a screenshot of your app's configuration?

Do all the employees have appropriate permission to access the SharePoint Site (The employees are members of the SharePoint Site)?

I have made a test on my side and don't have the issue that you mentioned. Please let the Employees with issues clear cache of their browser, and then re-open the SharePoint Site to try the app again to check if the issue is solved.

The user @pdrampis has faced similar issue with you, please check the response within the following thread:

Please take a try with the solution mentioned within above thread, then check if the issue is solved on your side.

Best regards,

Re: Random metadata error

Thanks for your reply.  I looked at the other link and did indeed try it out, but it didn't have any negative or positive effect.

All permisisons are setup properly, this is OneDrive with Excel, not SharePoint.

The error pops up every so often, then, goes away after a couple refreshes or cache clears.  I'm looking to find out a way to fix it so that the users do not see it.  There's got to be a root cause.

What specifically do you want a screenshot of, within the app configuration?  Data sources, connections?

Re: Random metadata error

I've come to the conclusion that having 50+ people accessing the app, specifically the Excel file via the app, at the same time, is the cause of random error.  There's no documentation I've been able to find that proves this, however, when user1 gets an error and user2 does not and user1 refreshes a couple times and the error goes away, to me that's pretty indicative of my hypothesis.  Is it 100% the cause?  No.  Can anyone else provide a better answer?  Not yet.  Robot Frustrated

Thanks for your time.
