Record Created Via Patch Form Isn't Immediately Available

I have a Task System - TASK is the main item and Actions Items are the sub Task that is related to the main Task.  The main TASK is varRecord.

 

They are related by the ActionItem.RefID = varRecord.ID.  They successfully save, but I can't see the TASK fully loaded right after.

 

I create the TASK via a patch form >> It immediately opens the Action creator...

(At this point, I've looked via another tab and the TASK is in SharePoint now) 

I have a label on the Action creator showing varRecord.ID does exist.

 

I continue on creating the Action and at the end, it saves it and directly sends you to the Task editor.  At this point, the editor is mostly blank, acting almost as if the record doesn't exist.  I know it does, I see it in SharePoint.  If I exist out of the Task editor, the home page has a Gallery showing all of the Tasks and it is right there.  I can open it and see all of the needed fields populated and the Task and Action are connected perfectly fine.

 

Is there a way that the Main Task can be opened immediately?  It has worked in the past when I've used a regular form and not a patch form, so what is the difference?

I assume here you have set varRecord to the result of the Patch

   varRecord,
   Patch(
       . . . . . 

and the Item of your form is varRecord?

You would assume fairly correctly.  In this situation I even perform another patch using varRecord.ID and that works as well

I’m going to keep investigating…

I tried putting a regular form on the same screen as my patch form.  Having the data source the same and the item varRecord.  As soon as I make it patch, the normal form populates with that record.  Why would it work there and not in the other area…🤔 

 

The main task editor is a normal form and when it’s opened through the process I’ve mentioned and then press submit form on that form, suddenly the form populates with that record.  (That submit form doesn’t make you navigate away by design). So, it seems varRecord still has its value.

What do you mean by "other area"? Is this not in a Form with an Item of varRecord?

Sorry for the confusion.  I’m thinking of it as navigating to the form that has been having the problem populating record.   Im saying… It works on a form I stuck right on the same screen as the patch form, why am I having a problem seeing the record anywhere else because I have set varRecord

If it helps, I set a global Variable gblID to the ID of the record I am working with example if selected from a Gallery

Set(gblID,ThisItem.ID)

The you can refer in the Item of a Form (or any other time you want the complete record)

LookUp(
   ListName,
   ID = gblID
)

and Patch

Patch(
   ListName,
   {ID: gblID},
   {. . . . . }
)

you can also set it from anywhere including other galleries and use the same form for displaying.

I already used set value in galleries and they work fine opening a form that way.  It just seems to have lost the record (not the ID) when I went to the new form from the patch form.  I’m trying to get rid of basically all of my normal forms and replacing them with patch forms.  They are so much more flexible and I can recycle them.  

So, when I went to the new form, I just performed a lookup for the record based on the ID and then set it that way.  I’m not sure how it lost the full record, but kept the ID…

Strange, but it’s probably some code issue in there somewhere that I caused.  Thanks for the help.
