Refreshing Yammer source

Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am having trouble refreshing the Yammer source data within my app.

I can select Yammer as a source, but there is no option to refresh it. Normally, I would refresh sources in the screen options ( Refresh(table1) for example ), but Powerapps does not recognize my Yammer connection as a data source to refresh. I can get the messages to my app with "Yammer.GetMessagesInGroup(xxxx).messages" but now they only update every time I restart the app. I would like to update the Yammer messages every time the screen is visible.

As you can see from the attachment, there is only the option to remove the Yammer data source. I am the owner of the Yammer group, so it should not be a problem with the access rights.

Hi @ilied,

It is true that you cannot refresh Yammer connector inside PowerApps. I will discuss about this with my colleague and see if they have any suggestions.

Hi @ilied,

Yammer connection provides actions. Refresh option is only supported in table data sources.

Thank you for the reply. Is there a workaround for this? I'm asking because my app works as a bulletin board of sorts, displaying announcements, showing graphs etc. and it would be nice to have up to date data displayed, without restarting the app constantly.

I've read that Flow could provide a workaround but it's not clear how can we solve it:

PowerApps doesn't work with dynamic schema. The phrase dynamic schema refers to the possibility that the same action may return a different table with different columns. Conditions that may cause the columns in the tables to differ include the action input parameters, the user or role that's executing the action, and the group in which the user is working, among others. For example, SQL Server stored procedures may return different columns if run with different inputs. For actions with dynamic schema, the connector documentation shows The outputs of this operation are dynamic. as the return value. In contrast, Microsoft Flow works with dynamic schema and might provide a work-around for your scenario.
