Relating a current power app to a sharepoint list

So I created a great Power App that uses our AD to show user information for an Internal phone and e-mail directory.  I have a SharePoint list that I want to associate this app with (I built the app from scratch using data connections).  Now I go into this list and choose Settings and then Form Settings and SharePoint is telling me this when I try to choose "Use a custom form created in Power Apps" - You have to publish your form from within PowerApps to make this option work.   I have saved and published my form.  Is there a way to associate the two without creating the app from the start using the list iteself?

Thanks

The Powerapps custom form for SharePoint is a special type of PowerApp and can only be accessed through the SharePoint list. You can add a connector to your User Information PowerApp to connect to the SharePoit list but you won't be able to replace the SharePoint list form with the User Information PowerApp. If you just want to display the User Information PowerApp in SharePoint you could embed the PowerApp into a SharePoint page.

Thanks for the information and I was afraid of your answer.  We can still use the app outside of the list.  Really the list is just really for us IT users anyway whereas the standard user will use the app front end.

Hello, so just to confirm you were able to create a power app and link it to a sharepoint list after the fact? I am looking to do the same where I have created an app and would like to store information from that app to either a sharepoint list (preferred) or an excel workbook. I also started from a blank canvas.
