Retrieve data using custom API

We are trying to retrieve data from our MIS which is based in the cloud. Their API uses the BATCH API and to access a specific dataset an APIKey has to be appended to the URL which gives you access to the data and actually shows it to you whether authenticated or no

Im not a developer but was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

The URL looks like so:{D3C8E44K-454D-4RED-B4G6-935A78C353S9}

The XML parameter can also be changed to json.ashx to display results in JSON format.

I have tried with postman and swagger and have read the files on the powerapps docs but dont seem to be getting any luck. Anyone know of another resource or can assist in any way?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Retrieve data using custom API

Hi @aadilganie,

Could you please share a bit more about the MIS that you mentioned?

Do you want to access a specific dataset using the URL that you provided within your PowerApps app?

If you want to access a specific dataset using the URL that you provided within your PowerApps app, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps app currently.

You could consider take a try to create a custom connector within your PowerApps, then use the custom connector to access the specific dataset. More details about creating a custom connector in PowerApps, please check the following article:

In addition, please also check if you have requested a proper URL on your side. Please also take a try to modify your Custom API as a JSON file and call the API as below:{D3C8E44K-454D-4RED-B4G6-935A78C353S9}

The sample of a OpenAPI Definition as below:

Re: Retrieve data using custom API

Hi @v-xida-msft

Thanks for you message and apologies for the delayed reply.

The MIS is actually a cloud based school information system that stores information about students, teachers etc and all data in between.

The school has access to generate an API key for each area they would like to give you access to. So basically the the API key generated would only give you access to a specific dataset anyway.

I did try to connect a custom API using Postman but I think I may be getting something wrong.
