Returning notes from the CDS to a gallery

I am having trouble returning notes related to a custom entity using the CDS connector.  I can easily populate a gallery with notes by simply entering the notes entity into the items entry in the source, so I know the data is there.

What I am trying to do is filter the gallery to all notes with the same regarding field (ObjectID) effectively filtering by the parent record.

My formula is Filter(notes, regarding = ParentGallery.Selected)  where ParentGallery has the parent record selected.

I am getting no results back and there doesn;t seem to be any other fields I can use to filter by the related parent.

Any help much apppreciated.

Do you want to filter items according to the regarding field?

Since the regarding field is a look-up field, you need some special functions.

Try this:

 Filter(notes, regarding.Value = ParentGallery.Selected)

Note and object Id basically has relationship, if you go to the Note entity, then find the N:1 Relationship, you can have plenty of list.

While, the field that stored the relationship is RegardingObjectId (Object Id), means primary entity id related, that can link to any entity with Note-setting enable.

To get the GUID I think you need to export it out and then tick the make as re-import feature.

Or you can use OData Query or PowerQuery in Excel or SQL Query if you are onpremise user.

I am not sure if you have fully understood what I am trying to do.

This is a canvas app build on the common data service and I am trying to filte rthe notes table.  Your suggestion of adding the .value suffix to the regarding field does not work as there are no methods you can call from the regarding field and .value just cuases an error.

Also I do not fully undertsand what you are saying about the export and re-import to get the GUID?  

Would you be able to explain a bit more.
