SOME users prompted by message to App xxx "Needs your permission to use' Allow/Don't Allow

hi, I have an app that uses a SharePoint list as a data connection.  All users have been granted read access to that SP list and all User have been shared the PowerApp.  SOME users are promted with the message -  App xxx "Needs your permission to use' Allow/Don't Allow.  1. Why is it working for some users without being prompted?  2. Can we prevent this prompt?

Hi @TDevineAT 

 

When you try to play/edit an app for the first time, it usually checks if the app already has all the connections/access to all the Data Sources specified in the app. If the connections exists, it does not create new connections and use the existing ones but if there is no connection, then it prompts the user to create one, to verify if user is allowed to fully-use the app with access to all the data connectors present in the app. Usually there is a Sign-in process that user needs to complete to create this connection for the first time.

Hello!

 

I agree with what @yashag2255 said about first-runs, however you can bypass them altogether:

 

Not sure if you're an IT person and have an O365 admin account.. but if you do, you can use PowerShell to bypass this consent for an App (or ask your IT team to do this)

 

First you need the AppID

Then you need to Open up an elevated PowerShell prompt with your admin account (or ask your IT department to do all of this)

Their Admin account will need a PowerApps Plan 2 license assigned to do this.

They will then need to run the following (assuming they have installed the PowerApps PowerShell modules using this: Install-Module -Name Microsoft.PowerApps.PowerShell -RequiredVersion 1.0.1😞

 

Import-Module Microsoft.PowerApps.Administration.PowerShell
Import-Module Microsoft.PowerApps.PowerShell
Add-PowerAppsAccount
Set-AdminPowerAppApisToBypassConsent -AppName 5c3aaaaa-aaaa-aaaa-aaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaa
 
(At the Add-PowerAppsAccount stage they will need to authenticate as their admin account.)
 
Once you've bypassed the consent for this App, users will not get prompted to Allow the connection anymore as you will have permitted it for this App on a tenant-level 🙂

Hello ManChat,

Please confirm this will ONLY work with a PowerApps Plan 2 license ($40/month per user!)?  We don’t have that….but we have all else, so far we tried your recommendation and no dice due to the license.

Ok, so I had a look at the support page again, and it looks like they finally removed the requirement for a P2 license - however the GLobal Admin user will have to log into the PowerApps Admin Portal once before they attempt to run the cmdlets otherwise you get an authentication error:

 

"Office 365 Global admins or Azure Active Directory Global admins no longer require a P2 license for administrative access to the PowerApps admin PowerShell cmdlets. However, these administrators need to sign in to the PowerApps Admin Center at least once before using the PowerShell cmdlets. If this is not done, the cmdlets will fail with an authorization error."

 

Please have a read through the support page for the PowerApp PowerShell cmdlets and let me know if you still have issues (and if yes, please paste the error message you received)
