SPL column for approvers

Hello everyone,

I am building a SPL form (customize with PowerApps). For the puspose of this explanation I would refer to this SPL as "Milestone Tracker". Inside this SPL I have a column called "Approvers Email" (text type). FYI: I will later connect this column with Msc Flows to send an approval email.

Anyway, this SPL "Milestone Tracker" PowerApps form I want to connect with a second SPL called "People" In which I have 3 columns: (1) Department; (2) Name; (3) Email. Take a look at the pic below:

capture7.png

In my main powerapps form "Milestone Tracker" I want to insert 3 data cards to allow the user to select to whom send the approval email. In order to do that I have inserted a (1) dropdown list and a (2) combobox.

  • The (1) dropdown list is to filter the department.
  • Based on the chosen department, now the user would be able to select multiple people using (2) the combobox. So it look like below:

capture6.png The Dropdown list works perfect, however the combobox it does not work. above I also show the formula used.

the last datacard Email of Approver is connect with my main SPL "Milestone Tracker". My target is to collect all the emails from the column "Email" (datasource "People").

Any Idea on why the combox formula is not working? And how can I collect all the emails so I can connected afterwards with my Msc Flows?

Hope all this make sense!

Thanks a lot!! 😉

Hi@Corleone,

Have seen the formula you provided, I think there is something wrong with the syntax.

I give this formula as below, you have missed the part of "Name in". The formula you put in is in less of parameters.

The first formula is yours, and the second one is mine, you can see the difference between them.

Yours as below

Concat(Filter(People,cbAprover.SelectedItems.Name),Email&";")

Mine as below

Concat(Filter(People,Name in ComboBox1.SelectedItems.Name),Email&";")

Please modify your formula as below

Concat(Filter(People,Name in cbAprover.SelectedItems.Name),Email&";")

Hi @Corleone

Try changing the Combobox Items property to Filter(People, Department = ddDepartment.Selected.Value)

Hi @faustocapellanj ,

thanks!! My combobox works perfect.

One last thing, how can I collect all the emails for the selected people? In the datacard Emails of the approver I used the following formula:

capture10.png

This last datacard is connected with my main SPL "Milestone tracker". And all the emails will be stored in the column "Email of approver" (data type text) for later Msc Flows.

capture12.png

any help of which formula should I write down to collect all emails?

thanks a lot!

Hi@Corleone,

Do you want to populate the TextInput with 'Email field value based on the ComboBox selected items?

Considering that the ComboBox is multiple-selected allowed, you should convert these selected into a single string.

I have a test on my side, please take a try as below.

Set the Default property of the last data card value as below

Concat(Filter(People,Name in ComboBox1.SelectedItems.Name),Email&";")

Since you want to collect all the email address of selected people, you can set the OnSelect property of the ComboBox as below

Collect(Temp2,Concat(Filter(People,Name in ComboBox1.SelectedItems.Name),Email&";"))

Hi @v-qiaqi-msft

I inserted your formula in my datacard. In the default: Concat(Filter(People,cbAprover.SelectedItems.Name),Email&";")

but it didn't work 😞

fyi: please find below the properties of my combobox data:

let me know if you need more info! thanks a lot

Hi @Corleone ,

Try this:
Set the below formula onChange event of the people picker control in the form:

UpdateContext({varSelectedEmails:Concat(ForAll(DataCardValue182.SelectedItems,Email),Value&";")})

Now you set the variable back to a lable / inputtext filed.

I hope this resolved your issue if you see any challenge/need further help please let me know I am always happy to do it for my community.
