Save results from filter to Choice column

Hi

I have a cascading drop down columns in a SharePoint form.

First column/dropdown is saving correct to my SharePoint Choice column.

My second dropdown/column that uses a distinct filter does not save to my Choice column. I belive because the value is a result?

What options do i have to solve this?

Column1 items = Choices(CategoryData.Category)
Column2 items = Distinct(Filter(CategoryData,Category.Value = DataCardValue11.Selected.Value),SubCategory1.Value)

When i save the form or create a new item it will save what ever i picked in Column1/dropdown but will leave the value blank in Column2/dropdown.

How can i solve this?

Thanks @JimmyWork ,

When you change the contents of a Choice column from the standard Choices([@ListName.FieldName]), you sometimes have to change the Update of the card to specifically tell SharePoint exactly what to write back. A choice field is actually a "complex" field type and essentially is a table within the record.

If what you have done works for you, then that is fine as it appears to be a sub-set of the original Choices list.

Filter(
   Choices(
      CategoryData.SubCategory1
   ),
   Value in Distinct(
      Filter(
         CategoryData,
         Category.Value = DataCardValue1_3.Selected.Value
      ),
      SubCategory1.Value
   )
)

Hi @JimmyWork ,

What is the Update property of the DataCard containing the Column2 item and what type of field is Column2 in your Data Source?

@WarrenBelz Thank you for answering.

My column2 datasource is a SharePoint list, choice column.

My update property is DataCardValue22.Selected

Seems if i change Column2 items to

items = Filter(Choices(CategoryData.SubCategory1), Value in Distinct(Filter(CategoryData,Category.Value = DataCardValue1_3.Selected.Value),SubCategory1.Value))

Then it works for some reason but I'm new to this so i dont know if I am doing it correct
