I believe your Items property should just be as follows:

Search('Vehicle Check & Report List', SearchBox.Text, "Vehicle")

Let me know if this doesn't work, how is it failing?

Thanks

Does this not work?

Thanks for the reply

This gallery that i am wanting to search is connected to a sharepoint list and the column where the vehicle details are is a choice column

That doesnt work the fault i am getting now is " the function search has some invaild arguments - wrong column type - expects text3.JPG

Can you provide a screen shot of Sharepoint list, 'Vehicle Check & Report List' that shows all the columns and the column types.  I'm missing something and think this may help.  At the very least I can then duplicate exactly what you are trying to do.

Thanks you 🙂

Eureka! 🙂  Your Vehicle column is a "Choice" column, so you have to use a work around to do a search on it.  The following should work.  Note, that it will be limited to the delegation limit (defaults to 500, but can be set to 2000).   So, if your list is going to be larger than this delegation limit, you'll probably need to not use Search and go a different direction.  That being said, to do a search on Vehicle the following should work (but let me know if it doesn't :-))

Search(AddColumns('Vehicle Check & Report List', "ChosenVehicle",Vehicle.Value), SearchBox.Text, "ChosenVehicle")

thank you , its caused an issue now where the list details page wont work

this is the code that makes it all work but the search function will only search title and thats not right, how can i add your code to this

SortByColumns(Filter([@'Vehicle Check & Report List'], StartsWith(Title, SearchBox.Text)), "Title", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending))

If i remove that and add your code i get an error on my list detail screen where "gallery2.selected" doesnt work

Can i add to this to enable the search of a "choice" column as well ?

SortByColumns(Filter([@'Vehicle Check & Report List'], StartsWith(Title, TextSearchBox1.Text)), "Title", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending))

See below.  I created a Sharepoint list, that just has Title and Vehicle in it (the only columns you are using) in your commands.  I added 3 records to this columns with a Title equal to a name and the Make equal to (Ford, Madza, or Chevy).

The first picture shows what all three Gallery's look like without anything in the SearchText.

The second picture shows what displays if I put an M in the SearchText.

Here are the item properties for each:

Gallery1: Search(AddColumns('Vehicle Check & Report List', "ChosenVehicle",Vehicle.Value), SearchBox.Text, "ChosenVehicle")

Gallery2: SortByColumns(Filter(Search(AddColumns('Vehicle Check & Report List', "ChosenVehicle",Vehicle.Value), SearchBox.Text, "ChosenVehicle"), StartsWith(Title, SearchBox.Text)), "Title", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending))

Gallery3: SortByColumns(Filter([@'Vehicle Check & Report List'], StartsWith(Title, SearchBox.Text)), "Title", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending))

Note: ALL three galleries display data without error.  Gallery1 is what I provided.  Gallery 3 is what you provided. Gallery 3 is combining the two functions together.

Here's where I think the problem is and I am hope that this response is going to give you the solution you want.  As I said above, the second screen shot is when I put an "M" in the Search Text.  This displays Mike and Mazda as expected.  However, this is only because the Title and the Vehicle both start with the letter M.  If I put a B in the search box you'll see that you only get information in Gallery 3.  Why are the other Galleries empty now.  Gallery 1 is empty because there isn't a Vehicle that starts with the letter B.  The Gallery 2 is empty because while there is a Title that starts with the letter B, there isn't a Vehicle that also starts with the letter B.

In Summary, the two commands can be combined as shown in Gallery 2, but I don't think you want to use the same SearchText for both.  Shouldn't there be 2 SearchText boxes.  One for the Title and one for the Vehicle?

I hope this lengthy and detailed example either gives you the solution and/or points you in the direction to get to what you need.  However, please let me know as I have something similar set up here, so I can continue to work with you as long as it takes 🙂
