Setting current user on start to equal a field value

I'm working to address the 2K limit on a gallery list in PowerApps by trying to filter the items on the gallery at the start of the application so that the initial results in the gallery are less than 2K.

I'm working on an app where the current user email should equal the email in the RPLEmailForApp field.

List name: Elevate Application dashboard

Field(single line): RPLEmailForApp

I've tried this in the "OnStart" without success.

User().Email='Elevate Application Dashboard', RPLEmailForApp

 Any suggestions would be helpful.

That is not valid syntax for Formulas in PowerApps.

If you want to get this filtered list on your Gallery, you can simply set the Items property of the gallery to:

   Filter('Elevate Application Dashboard', RPLEmailForApp = User().Email)

I hope this is helpful for you.

@RandyHayes is there another way to filter the 2K + list by the user email.. before then filtering by a status value or something so that I don't run into the issue of items not displaying when there are more than 2K?

Doing that is all about delegating.  Your formula is delegable, so more than 2000 records is not an issue.  However, if your filter returns more than 2000 record, then you will run into record limits.

Delegation and record limit are 2 different things.  Delegation is about being able to have a query/criteria done on the system side and then the results returned.  Record limit is about the maximum amount of records you can ever get from the datasource.

So, in other words, there is no way to return more than 2k records, but you can delegate a query to the source to query much much more than 2k records (but still would only be limited by record limit)
