Sharepoint List column not updating with people selected in a combobox

Hi all,

In my PowerApp, I have a datacard with a combobox (which is connected to an office 365 group ID) within a form with other datacards. I have set the items property of this combobox to 'Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("GroupID").value'. This works all good and shows the members of the group in the combobox and I can select/unselect specific members of the group. However, when I submit the form, the members I have selected in the combobox does not update to the relevant sharepoint list column. All the other datacards within the form update fine but for some reason this one does not. Any suggestions on what might be going wrong?

Thanks,

Jack.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Try to select the corresponding Data Card Control and apply the following formula on its Update property as:

{
    '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
    Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & DataCardValue2.Selected.mail,
    Department: "",
    DisplayName: DataCardValue2.Selected.displayName,
    Email: DataCardValue2.Selected.mail,
    JobTitle: "",
    Picture: ""
}

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your answer, apologies for late reply I was busy with other stuff. I tried your suggestion and that does seem to help. However, it is only adding the last selected name in my combobox to the relevant sharepoint list column. I would like to be able to add multiple names to the column. This is what my code is looking like at the moment:

Items property of my People combobox:

Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("ce6d54f4-5116-43a9-89a5-9b0845e8137a").value

Update Property of my datacard:

{
'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & DataCardValue9.Selected.mail,
Department: "",
DisplayName: DataCardValue9.Selected.displayName,
Email: DataCardValue9.Selected.mail,
JobTitle: "",
Picture: ""
}

If I was to select the names, for example -  Jack, Evan, Ryan - only Ryan would be updated back to the sharepoint list column. I would like them all to be updated back. Anymore suggestions?

Hi @Anonymous ,

If your Combobox allows multiple selection, maybe you could try to select the Combo Box Control(DataCardValue9) and apply the following formula on its OnChange property as:

Clear(userscollection);
ForAll(DataCardValue9.SelectedItems,Collect(userscollection,{
'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & mail,
Department: "",
DisplayName: displayName,
Email: mail,
JobTitle: "",
Picture: ""
}))

or

ClearCollect(userscollection,ForAll(DataCardValue9.SelectedItems,{
'@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & mail,
Department: "",
DisplayName: displayName,
Email: mail,
JobTitle: "",
Picture: ""
}))

vyujincuimsft_0-1650592331853.png

Then select your DataCard and set its Update property to userscollection.

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your response. I tried what you suggested and it seems to be throwing an error. My form currently only has two datacards on it, one for seelcting topics to be discussed at a meeting and then the other one is the meeting attendees. When I try submit the form, I get an error, which is visible in the attached photo. I'm not sure what is going wrong?Screenshot (8).png

Hi @Anonymous ,

Based on the error message, maybe the problem is caused by a missing email address for a user.

Maybe you could add a Data Table Control and set its Items property to userscollection, then check if the email of the selected users is empty.

Thanks Charlie,

I gave that a go and set the Items property of the data table to the collection but nothing shows up. I tried creating a gallery and setting the items property of that to the collection to see if it is working correctly and the names show up in that alright - but not in the data table. Not sure why that is.

Hi all,

i have the exact same issue like @Anonymous.
When the combobox is empty and i choose Person A and Person B, click save and it works fine.

If i then open it up again and edit the combobox, for example, put in a third person Person C, it's not working.

Looking at the collection, Claim and Email from Person A and B is missing. That's why the error occurs. So it's exactly what @v-yujincui-msft assumed. But WHY? And how can i fix this so that the Claim and Email data does not go missing when editing and choosing more people into that combo box?

Thanks
