Show Checkboxes instead of multi select dropdown

I have one lookup column from the master list and multiple selection is checked for that column.

When I am building the power app, that lookup column is displayed as a multi select dropdown.

I want that to be changed to checkboxes.

I dont want to add checkboxes manually as the lookup data should be dynamic.

Any suggestion here?

Hi @BhushanInamdar ,

Do you want to use checkbox as combo box for lookup field?

Using check box as combo box to display or update lookup field is ok.

However, I'm afraid setting checkbox dynamically is not supported in powerapps yet.

Please notice check box's Text property:

Text that appears on a control or that the user types into a control.

That means that you need to set checkbox's Text one by one. (check box's Text property needs text data, while combo box's Items property needs table data.)

For example: if the lookup field has 5 choices value, you need to insert 5 check boxes, set their Text and Default property one by one.

Could you tell me whether your lookup field allows multiple choice? I assume as yes.

I've made a similar test for your reference:

1)the lookup field has 6 choices

the lookup field named 'Catalog Item', my list named list4

2)insert 6 checkboxes in my app

set checkbox1's Text:

"1A10 Laptop"

set checkbox1's Default:

If(1 in ThisItem.'Catalog Item'.Id,true,false)

set checkbox2's Text:

"RC10 CD"

set checkbox2's Default:

If(2 in ThisItem.'Catalog Item'.Id,true,false)

set checkbox3's Text:

"A1230 Ferrari"

set checkbox3's Default:

If(3 in ThisItem.'Catalog Item'.Id,true,false)

set checkbox4's Text:

"1A10 Album"

set checkbox4's Default:

If(4 in ThisItem.'Catalog Item'.Id,true,false)

set checkbox5's Text:

"1A10 Album"

set checkbox5's Default:

If(5 in ThisItem.'Catalog Item'.Id,true,false)

set checkbox6's Text:

"1A10 Album"

set checkbox6's Default:

If(6 in ThisItem.'Catalog Item'.Id,true,false)

(You need to check each lookup field's choise Id value in the related list.)613.PNG

3)set this datacard's Update:

DropColumns(Filter(Table({Value:"1A10 Laptop",Id:1,checked:Checkbox1_1.Value},{Value:"RC10 CD",Id:2,checked:Checkbox1_2.Value},{Value:"A1230 Ferrari",Id:3,checked:Checkbox1_3.Value},{Value:"1A10 Album",Id:4,checked:Checkbox1_4.Value},{Value:"1A10 Album",Id:5,checked:Checkbox1_5.Value},{Value:"1A10 Album",Id:6,checked:Checkbox1_6.Value}),checked),"checked")

Then these check boxes could be used as a combo box for this lookup field.

Actually, using checkbox for lookup field is more complex than combo box. You need to set one by one manually, not like combo box, just need to set one control.

If your lookup field allows multiple choice, I more suggest you use combo box.

If your lookup field does not allow multiple choice, I suggest you use combo box, drop down or radio. These three controls settings are all very simple.

@BhushanInamdar

The PowerApps blog had a great article on this topic.  I suggest you take a look there for guidance and inspiration!
