Showing a value after a combo box selection

Hi there, silly question here, but I am tired of reading post and posts without any luck.

I have a sharepoint list with two columns Name and Region.

In my app I have a dropdown menu that shows all of the names, so far so good, but I want a label that show the region once the name has been selected.

I have been trying lookup but nothing works.

Any help?

thanks in advance

Re: Showing a value after a combo box selection

Hi @sajarac,

A Dropdown or Combobox control contains all of the columns in a record of the dataset that is it's Items property although it only displays one of them in the window of the control.  However, all of the other columns in the list can be accessed by other controls that reference the Dropdown or Combobox control.  The formula that you are looking for in your label is

Lookup(YourListName,ID=Combobox1.Selected.ID,Region)

Where YourListName is the name of the Items property of your Combobox control.  If you had more columns in your list, you could reference any of them and prepopulate a gallery with labels referring to each of the columns.

Re: Showing a value after a combo box selection

Thank you very much for your prompt reply, so my data is like this:

The Share point list = SRList

Name = Title

Region = Region

My combobox for the name is = CboAssessor

and the label for my region = LblRegion

So the formula should be:

Lookup(SRList,ID=CboAssessor.Selected.ID,Region)

Re: Showing a value after a combo box selection

Looks right to me.  If the region is a choice or lookup type column you will need to add a .Value to the formula.

Lookup(SRList,ID=CboAssessor.Selected.ID,Region.Value)

Does it work?
